I could not disagree more. It is a fantastic addition to the Rivian. Had mind about a week now and I love it.

The thread on that device is pretty disappointing. seems like tons of issues. It's definitely a kludge.

Gen 1 R1S -- i hope this addresses two things since the last few updates:

1. Highway assist disengaging constantly for no clear reason. it's become nearly unusable at this point
2. seat ventilation seems to be barely blowing any cold air

I'm all for OTA updates, but my '22 e-tron doesn't get them and you know what? driver assist and ventilated seats work the same as the day i bought the damn car!!

Climate control in humid conditions -- maybe this will finally address the condition where it's just chilly enough out to want heat, but so humid that if the AC compressor isn't running that fog builds up on the windows inside. Even with "defog" on.

Lol. This is just like the thread on the Comma 3x/Sunny Pilot ADAS 2. The people claiming it's a "hack" or a "kludge" have no experience with it or can't seem to figure out how to install it properly. It's a fantastic addition to the Gen 1 Rivians and the EVplay device is a fantastic addition to the Rivian. I have both, and it's like having a new car. I can't believe it works, but Siri works fantastic on the EVplay/Carplay and is way faster and more responsive than Alexa. I finally have a competent messaging system that reads my text messages and allows me to respond verbally and accurately.

I was getting a clunk when using Cruise Control and manually speeding up with the right button, i'd get a clunk as the acceleration progressed. I assume thats the rear motor engaging awkwardly?

Yes! this has been a near constant issue (weather condition dependent of course) since I took delivery in Feb 2023. I've found the best "fix" is if you suspect conditions will be this way, to run the HVAC for 5 mins or so from the app before even going to the truck.

This can absolutely be true, along with being annoyed when updates introduce new bugs or fail to respond to bugs interdicted in previous updates. There is a point of diminished value where my truck now does almost anything I would want (I'd still like a simple PIN to drive and a legit valet mode) and I'd rather not get the monthly "update" if they keep introducing bugs that screw other systems up too....

I'm just hoping either audio over USB or Bluetooth improvements (both sound quality and bluetooth menu navigation) are in an update relatively soon. I love my truck, but this lack of music functionality just grinds on me every day.

I'm getting close to a towing road trip in two weeks, so my desire to do the update will wane the closer we get to the trip.

Any pre public versions are automatically hidden and never shown on Rivian Roamer.

Well, good to know my intuition on release date was right. What are you triggering off of for eligibility? The other leading brand only shows how many vehicles have the update downloaded, installed, etc...but not a pre-download eligibility state.

I see in the Rivian feed there's an otaInstallReady == ota_available and then otaCurrentStatus == Install_Success from the last update.
