I'd argue it is buttoned up. It's more about risk mitigation.
I see lots of people on Rivian Forums/Reddit get upset that Rivian doesn't release software updates to everyone in one go. But that carries with it a lot of risk. And allowing "opt-in" doesn't resolve that, since most people will...
Given 85% of Rivian buyers are first time EV owners it has created an interesting situation.
Tesla takes weeks, sometimes months to fully deploy an OTA to the fleet. There seemingly is no rhyme or reason with Lucid, Ford, etc.
Rivian consistently deploys changes every 4 or 8 weeks and the...
To follow up, I recommend reading the software update guide.
But I'll add some context in case others read this and don't read the guide.
There are two cohorts of people that get updates. Those with Connect+ and without. Your position within those cohorts is random. That means having Connect+...
This happens at the top end of Rivians. They do some funny business with the max range/%. My R1T stops increasing range at 96% but still charges. They do this (I suspect) to create a consistent range experience. Meaning, as your battery degrades you don't see that in the max range until that...
Connect+ is a software subscription, not a connectivity mechanism.
The cellular connections in Rivian use AT&T. It's recommended you connect to Wifi at home.
Connect+ makes you earlier, not first. It's like getting TSA PreCheck, there can still be lines. They don't deploy to the entire Connect+ fleet on Day 1. Being technical means you should understand why.

This will not change your position in the queue.
However, there are health checks that must pass for you to be flagged. THere's a chance one was failing and by rebooting you cleared it.
There are about 12 health checks that have to pass. There is no way to know if they are currently passing.
Someone says this every update, there is no indication that it's paused. The deployment is NOT constant. They complete waves, generally around noon PT, sometimes later.

Correct.
Agreed with other comments. That drive is way too short to get meaningful data. That's like trying to estimate how many calories you burn walking a quarter mile. Depends on what you ate before that, how you're feeling, stress levels.
With an EV it can be battery temp, wind, ambient...
Some of the SOC staying consistent also likely has to do with weather. It was cooler here in the morning in Seattle. After parking my Dune R1S I watched the SOC climb while being idle.
As far as capacity goes.
Rivian does not expose gross battery capacity, only net. This means you're only seeing what's available not actually use. Rivian reserves some based on conditions (weather, etc).
There is no way to reliably get gross battery capacity...
I've been working on a UI for this. It's really hard to get right.
I have requests for...
1. TOU with multiple rates per day
2. TOU with multiple rates per month
3. Charge based on time
All of this with account level, vehicle level and location level overrides. It's getting complicated and...
