Driver Assistance with Hitch Accessories

You’ll now be able to keep Driver Assistance features active when you have an electrical accessory (like a bike rack with lights) plugged into the tow hitch. Just head to Drive Modes > Trailers and select “Accessory.” This doesn’t apply to full trailers, so make sure to pick the right setting.
oh my god thank you rivian I can now rest in peace

I don't think they can change the behavior of the dual motor and maintain the EPA range rating. In my Tri, it does exactly what you are asking for. But the EPA range is sufficiently reduced.
It 100% is coming. Kyle from OOS managed to demo a test version of the software on a Dual. I think it was his factory tour video last month.

They're adding Conserve to Duals. And to make it EPA compliant, the vehicle will default to Conserve mode after 4 hours of inactivity.

All-Purpose will now be full-time AWD. Unsure if Conserve will be FWD like Tri/Quad, of if it auto-disconnect like the current All-Purpose.

But as I mentioned earlier in this thread, does not appear to be coming with this update.

I sure hope you're incorrect about that (defaulting to conserve). I can't imagine having to pick AWD every time just to be able to have the acceleration with both motors.

Certainly it's better than what you have now. They're not going to default to AWD mode for the EPA numbers...just won't happen. They're only doing it in the Tri/Quad because they're performance variants and not targeting range numbers.

How is it better than what I have now? It's downright lousy if it defaults to 2WD/FWD and 1/2 the power unless I change the settings every time I get in the vehicle.

I can't be the only one who would hate this if it ends up happening

What it sounded like to me was the current all purpose would just be renamed Conserve and the new all purpose would be full time AWD.

The DM is never "half the power". If you demand enough with the throttle it will reengage the rear motor and give you all the power available...that's the clunk that DM folks complain about. Conserve mode on the Gen1 Quad is literally *only* FWD and will not automatically reconnect the rear motors...that's half the power and annoying if you suddenly need to accelerate hard. And the disconnects on the Gen1 Quad were not designed to reconnect under load like the Gen1 DM / Gen2 motor disconnects were.

Thank you, I understand all of that - I've had my DM for about 8 months now.

The post I was responding to was a claim that All-Purpose would no longer be the default mode on dual motors, replaced with "conserve" which would be full-time 2WD with no AWD engagement. That is what I was saying would be terrible and I hope that's not true.

Rivian’s 2025.22 update is currently in early testing with employees and is shaping up to be a solid quality-of-life release. While it doesn’t introduce major new features, it brings a bunch of meaningful improvements across both Gen 1 and Gen 2 vehicles.

Smoother Ride in All Drive Modes

Rivian has continued tuning suspension across the board. You’ll feel better roll support and agility, improved body control in All-Purpose mode, and a more comfortable ride even in Sport mode’s low height. Rock Crawl, Rally, and Drift get updates too.

Gen 2-Specific Enhancements

Smarter Go Chime: It now only chimes if the car ahead moves and you’re not paying attention. Driver Attention Tweaks: When stopped in ACC or Highway Assist, the vehicle will stay engaged longer if you’re clearly looking at the road. Better climate cooldown: Cabin comfort in hot weather gets a noticeable bump.

Fixes and Small Wins

Proximity unlock now works faster with iPhone 14 Infotainment and charging stability continue to improve Energy Monitor bugs have been cleaned up High Beam Assist is now more clearly labeled as “Adaptive” and no longer offers the confusing “Standard” option

2025.22 is still in internal testing, but if all goes well, we expect a wider rollout in the coming weeks.

They need to address the sound quality issues, Fix Apple Music and also the Clunk in Dual Motors.

I wouldn't use Driver+ *at high speeds* when there's no room for error. I don''t suggest using it when you're sandwiched in tight lane situations of any kind at high speeds (heavy traffic w. windy roads, barrier wall with no shoulder, etc.). It is possible for it to slip out of the lane briefly.
Yes, because (particularly on Gen1) it is "driver assistance" comprised of "lane keep ASSIST" and adaptive cruise control. IT IS NOT AUTOMATED SELF - DRIVING

Here's to hoping we can still disable driver assistance stuff by f'ing with the wiring. My opinion on these systems was reaffirmed yesterday when the car tried to kill me. I was driving in a carpool lane with driver + that was right against the center barrier and when there was a bump out for a bridge pier and a turn it nearly flung me into the next lane of traffic. I'm sure the cars behind and to the side weren't amused with the wrestling match and the swerving car as I tried to regain control. That was enough of that.
You have to actively engage it. If you don't like it, don't turn it on....it's pretty simple
