I think it's great. My 2015 Highlander is still on the 2015 version of its software. We are lucky to get updates this often.
I totally agree, but we’ve gotten spoiled with regular monthly updates so whenever there is a large gap in releases, it feels odd.

I totally agree. But this update is a biggie. It must take Rivian many manhours to do these. So far for free.

just noticed the email announcing the feature says:

Rivian Autonomy Platform+ trial feature: Enhanced Highway Assist.

Didnt realize it was part of the paid offerings. but no matter, I suspect I will probably get the RAP+ :D

Rivian just posted the official update notes - performance upgrade is a one time $5000 unlock, just like with a new vehicle purchase.

I imagine those who were hoping for a lower price will be up in arms now with axes and pitchforks.

Since mine is already a performance dual motor, I am looking forward to Rally mode!

I need the Android "Check for updates" button so I can spam it and feel like I accomplished something when it finally says it's downloading the update.

I recall seeing enhancements made for live tire pressure information, but don't recall seeing this:

Tire Puncture Detection: Gen 1 and 2 vehicles will now proactively detect punctures and slow leaks on tires while in motion and notify you as you drive, increasing safety and helping you stay ahead of flat tires.

Nice.

Well I hope they don’t start charging for the Standard RAP feature. I used it extensively on my recent trip. Personally, I don’t mind having my hands just resting on the wheel.

Three things I did notice about RAP. I apologize if these have been discussed in precious threads:

1) There were situations where a lane ended/merged and it would get confused. It would alert driver and send notification RAP would disengaging.

2) Lane changes worked but were very or too abrupt IMO. It needs a shallower exit angle as you transition to the next lane.

3) Sideway Semi trucks. Frequently the driver display avatar showing semi trucks in front of you were displayed perpendicular to the road. They would toggle back and forth perpendicular/parallel and then finally get it right settle parallel in their correct lane. The frequency of occurrence would increase the longer you drove with RAP on. If I disengaged RAP and then reengaged, that seemed to act like a “reset” and clear what ever it was that caused the sideway semi’s. At least for a while.

Autonomy was never a selling point for me, so I've not payed utmost attention and I could be wrong. But, from what I've seen, accuracy of what is depicted in the driver display isn't terribly important—as lightning, and glare, could momentarily misinform software of what it is seeing. What is important is that the vehicle & software is seeing and is detecting an object, and know not to crash into it. As for 1 and 2, it will and should get better with further collection of data, feedback, and development time. Tesla's been at their FSD for how many years? and it's still not perfect.

Observations….. not complaints.

It was not a selling point for me either. As a matter of fact, I wasn’t even aware it existed when I made the purchase. Enclosed cargo capacity and zero emissions were all I cared about. However, after just recently logging > 2k miles on I-5, RAP is a “feature” I quickly learned to appreciate.
