Not sure if this is a 1 for 1 comparison of the 20" Pirelli tires, but thought this will be helpful in setting expectations for those new owners this winter.

TLDW: The Pirelli scorpion AT plus was one of the lower performing AT tires in snow/ice. Performing worse that some non snow rated AT tires and worse than a high performing all season tire.

From someone with real life experience I drove this past January in 12 inches of snow after that massive snow dump in Tahoe and the truck handled extremely well without chains going down an unplowed hill. Slipped a little here and there but nothing too crazy and I am on stock 20’ AT tires.

Last winter I experienced more ice than snow and the AT+ performed ok (just ok). They weren’t nearly as good as some of the Blizzaks or Hakkas I’ve used on other vehicles but they were good enough that I didn’t feel the need to go out and buy a new set.

Nobody should expect this to perform as well as a dedicated snow tire. It's necessarily compromised; it's an all-season compound, and the tread pattern and siping are designed for all season and all terrain performance. Proper winter tires have a winter-only compound (much softer) and tread blocks/siping designed specifically for snow and ice.

I think the point of the video is that these tires don't perform nearly as well as other AT tires, regardless if they are three peak rated or not.

They compared against an all season and it didn't perform as well either.

What I took from this video is that the 19 meter difference in stopping between a dedicated snow tire and the stock tire could be life or death driving in the mountains (or really anywhere with higher speed or exposure) which reinforced my decision to purchase a dedicated snow tire.

However, to each their own to decide what it means to them and their specific circumstances and driving scenarios.

Same (Bay Area to Truckee & back). No problems with my stock 20" ATs.

Can also recommend BFG KO2s.

I love the stock 20's. Good all around tire for the R1.

This was similar for my Ford F-150. The factory Scorpions had a very hard rubber compound which was decent for tire wear, but poor in rain snow and slush.

Being that the R1 is heavy, Scorpions are probably the optimal tire for wear. I'm banking on getting a set of winter tires and a second set of rims once the delivery date is confirmed.

If you need a local recommendation, I used 1010 tires, and had the Lougheed branch in Coquitlam mount and balance them - smooth process (bought the rims and Blizzaks from them). And now that it's actually snowing in the mtns today, I should probably actually put them on the truck. I've been dragging my feet on that step...

Good that there are folks who think they need snow tires and folks who think the stock 20's are great. Balanced supply and demand!

What rims did you get?

I had free tires for life, as part of my Ford sales /service agreement and after that ran out I got the BF Goodrich M&S. It was my last free set of tires. I like them quite a bit. Not too much detectable road noise and are an aggressive tire. I think the Blizzaks are more highly rated for below freezing weather and ice, as I recall.

I'm thoroughly confused. What exactly is "Average Snow Handling Time"? The amount of time it took to get around the track? So faster (shorter bar) is better?

Started a thread here as I was researching. Spoiler alert after the first post - I got them
