2022 R1T battery decline 304 to 284

I love my R1T! Best vehicle I have owned.

I have owned the truck for 4 years and the 100% charge has gone from 304 to 284 today… 55k miles on odometer.

I have charged over the 4 years 98% of the time to 80% (exception rare long trips).
Do we think this loss of 20 miles over 4 years is normal?

In a word, yes. My model 3 has lost about 40 mi from the 80% charge number in 7+ years.

This indirectly answers a question I’d been having which was: Does mileage at 100% charge ever change, or does battery degradation just manifest in lesser mi/kWh?

We bought a 23 R1S dual max w range wheels last fall that shows 400 mile capacity (and got to 400 miles at 100% charge).

I think I drive pretty efficiently, and lately I’ve noticed that my range/battery will often show things like 49% at 206 miles, or 24% at 102 miles - both of which suggest 100% range has gotten a bit over 400 mi.

Lately we’ve had a couple long trips where we want to leave the house at 100%, and I’ve noticed we will reach 400 miles of range, but the battery will only show 99% charge, and the screen will say “15 minutes remaining” of charging. But the range never gets to 100% or exceeds 400 miles despite leaving it plugged in for another 10/20 minutes.

But then when we begin our journey, the range will stay at 400 miles for the first 4 or 5 miles of our trip.

Today, we showed 400 mile range at 98%, but again the range never got above 400 miles over the next 20 or so minutes plugged in.

Will our Rivian ever show a range above 400 miles at our current specs?

Or it's possible a recent update has re-set the conversion factor from SoC to miles remaining, based either on fleet-wide or individual re-calculations?

My 22 T has 31k, has 127 of 131 left per Roamer data. 23 S has 21k and almost 130 of 131 left. So maybe lost 8 miles on my T but you have more miles. Might look into Roamer data if concerned.

My S has been level 3 charged a whole lot more than T, but T sits out in heat and cold more often.

FWIW I have a similar vehicle and similar miles and I have about the same numbers as OP.

We have a 2022 R1T with 20's. Our 100% state of charge range is about the same as it was at delivery. (23,000mi for reference)

Have you recently done a FULL 100% charge *and* left it on the charger for 4-8 hours after? This will rebalance the battery. I've seen cars pick up 30+ miles of range when this was done after long periods without doing it.

284 is the EPA rating for a 2022 R1T with 20" wheels in all purpose mode. The rating will be different if you change modes. I believe 303 is the rating in conserve. You don't mention what wheels you have or what drive mode you're in, so I can't say for sure, but I think you're jumping to conclusions when you claim battery degradation - these numbers are totally normal on my vehicle and don't represent any degradation at all

This is an important point, I gain almost 30 miles changing modes on the highway, with my quad on AT 20" tires.

About 6% range loss over 4 years is normal. Also, keep in mind that "range" as shown by miles remaining has always been an estimate based on calculating a bunch of variables.
At 85% charge my 2023 R1T with ~ 70K miles has dropped from an estimated 247 miles to an estimated 239 miles (with knobby 20" ATs)...

‘23 R1T QM with 20” AT tires and 34K miles. Charged to 70% usually gives an estimated 203 miles. Charge to 100% shows an estimated 284 miles. These numbers have never changed. What do it mean Does this indicate no or minimal battery degradation or what?

My 2022 R1T has 125.5 / 131 kwh as reported by Roamer, not bad after 4 years and 64k miles.

This is what I'm wondering. I just got the .26 update, and hadn't charged to 100% in a while, but I'm about to tow a distance that charging to 100% means I won't have to charge along the way, so I set it to 100%. I'm a few miles shy of what 100% was the last time I did it. But I'm still well over what 100% was when mine very first shipped in 2022. (An update "added a few miles" in late 22/early 23, IIRC.)
