Curious…are the last four digits of your VIN in the 4,000s or 5,000s? Trying to figure out how many of these things have been/will be turned out by the time we receive ours. The more the better.
There's now a vin in the 5100s per a Reddit poster

If you select any unavailable options the button changes from "Checkout" to "Request this build." If you click on the button then you get another "we'll let you know" dialog box. After that it simply adds the configuration to your favorites. You still have an invitation and you could order a different available configuration or request a different unavailable configuration.

R2 - request this build.webp

R2 - we'll let you know.webp
Cool. Thanks for that explanation and screengrab of what to expect on the ordering page. That's what I had expected, but I had seen some people say they ordered unavailable options, so was a little confused on what was actually going on there. I appreciate the extra details you provided here. :fist bump: Edit: Also, it's good that they are collecting the data on what options these (current) non-orders are waiting on to assist with planning the production ramp.

Does anyone know the ordering window time length upon receiving the invitation? The sales agent said 14 days but wasn't exactly sure

It's interesting that VINs in the 22xx and 5XXX were assigned on the same day. Wonder if Rivian is having logistical problems getting completed vehicles to delivery locations. I guess it could also be a QC remediation after production issue. The 22XX were not all the same color, so it's not solely a HMG wrong front panel piece problem. Or the 22XX get delivered a lot sooner than the 51XX. We'll see.

My 14XX VIN car was built June 9th, delivered June 29th. I took it in to service the next week for a rear wiper issue, and they also did some kind of an engineering inspection on the driver's side A-Pillar that required taking some stuff apart to access it.

There's no details about it at all on the service ticket, and I haven't been able to find anything online about it either. I'm guessing it was potentially a critical issue that was discovered in QC, and they were trying to identify when the issue started. That 22XX VIN range would seem to fall into that "after my delivery" timeline where it could have come up.

This was not uncommon during the first year+ of the the R1 rollout. There are some old threads here specualting the possible reasons. As I recall, some reasons suggested included QC hold for rework and hold due to last minute parts shortage.

I made a 2nd reservation last week, order timing updated today to say "December 2026-February 2027". Which is the exact same as my March 7, 2024 reservation, interestingly enough. Has anyone seen an estimated time to order beyond next February?

I have a VIN that's 21XX and still haven't been allowed to schedule delivery yet. Order invite came on July 9. Several weeks ago the person who texted me about helping with purchase questions said it was scheduled to be delivered to the SC on the 27th, but now they don't seem to be sure if it has.

It's sort of ironic, because I had a pretty smooth and seamless delivery experience in July 2022 with my R1, but this process has seemed much more haphazard and frustrating.

If you actually want to take delivery now/soon, ask to get re-matched to a new VIN. That's a manual process that should mean actual availability.

Did you request to get rematched? Or did the delivery date for your existing VIN just happen to get scheduled today?
The latter, I didn't have to get to the point of asking for a new VIN after airing some grievances. Not sure if my VIN may have been part of a bad batch that the SC needed time to get parts and/or fix which might explain a delivery date 12 days away.
