Wow, and the Tesla Model Y Performance made it 310 miles vs 253 miles. This is a huge difference and this is with the highway optimized tires on the Rivian. This may be sufficient to lock in my decision.

For me 230miles of range is sufficient in an EV and there are so many other benefits of the R2 over any other EV.
My issue is with RJ taking a page out of Musks playbook and making false claims. It makes me question all of Rivians claims, like UHF.

The false claims with the questionable longevity of the company doesn't inspire confidence

Completely fair points. RJ shouldn’t be touting the efficiency being as good as the Model Y when it clearly is not.

I’m also skeptical of the UHF and its future point to point capabilities. Fortunately for me, those features are not high on my priority list.

Same, they are not high priorities for me either. IMO these claims are made for capital raises which Rivian just raised $1.32b. Again the Musk playbook

That’ll never get through this FTC or SEC. And if we roll out into the future, VAG would have to buy up all the DOE loan obligations in the acquisitions..probably not willing to pay that much of a premium for it now.

VAG is too busy closing its factories and laying off people, which is a pretty big deal in Germany (it is not like in the US where a company can just throw away people with no explanation).

VAG is becoming more intertwined with Rivian with the zonal software JV.

It also makes sense for Scout if that ever comes to fruition

Someone will have to be around to keep R1's going. Just watched a video of a former Rivian employee, he got a repair quote from Rivian for $24,000 for his R1T suspension. That is literally half the current value of the vehicle. I will not be keeping R1T one day past warranty. R1's are becoming disposable vehicles.

80% capacity (20% degradation) plus never going below 10% and you are at 180 miles. Now imagine winter driving

If you want above 300 miles of range for a good amount of time, I think you need a close to 400 mile range EV

That is literally half the current value of the vehicle. I will not be keeping R1T one day past warranty. R1's are becoming disposable vehicles.

This is when a large OEM with scale can help. There simply isn't enough volume to realistically support the R1 long term.

I assume in winter, in snow mode, when all 4 wheels are active, it will have like 100 miles range? Since all those tests were done in RWD mode (epa etc)?

Rivian Roamer now has real-world data from 25 R2s covering about 16,900 miles.

The 20-inch all-terrain setup is averaging 2.75 mi/kWh, while the 21-inch all-seasons are averaging 2.56 mi/kWh. Using roughly 88 kWh usable, that works out to about 242 miles and 225 miles from 100% to 0%, (or roughly 206 and 191 miles if you stop at 15%)

The strange part is that the all-terrain tires are currently doing better than the supposedly more efficient 21s. That almost certainly comes down to different drivers, speeds, weather, elevation and routes, so I would not use this data to compare the wheel options directly.

Still, the overall numbers are useful. They suggest that real mixed driving range may be closer to the low-to-mid 200s than the 300-plus EPA figures, especially if you keep a normal reserve.
