The AXM connection is PITA - but after that its easy.
That and popping off the various panels and covers to thread the cable.

Did you use the OBD2 connector for power or did you tap into the fuse panel?

Removing the panels and cable management was no issue. I used the the upgraded (xnor) harness with the fuse tap.

Did that fuse tap come with the kit (still waiting.... any minute now) or did you buy it separately? I THINK the only thing in the kit is the OBD2 connector.

Very timely video. My Comma 4 is literally showing up today, any minute. I'll be installing it this afternoon and using it to drive to an EV event tomorrow at Embry-Riddle. Hopefully... if I can swing the install.
Just don't start the harness install if you are in a time crunch. The added stress will ensure that it is more of a pain in the A$$

I just got my Comma two days ago. Haven’t installed it yet. I am waiting for when I have a day. Having said that, I did a little of the preliminary work and it is obviously not a 15 minute job. I wouldn’t want to dive in with short deadline/trip ahead, then have something go wrong.

Here is what I used.... and lived to write about it.

I spent more time in that footwell than desired, but am very happy that it all works.

Next time I will also. use a pillow and a mattress pad..... maybe add an electric blanket?

Definitely not a 15-minute job, give yourself 2 to 3 hours. You may be done in one. If worth comes to worse, the car will still operate with the axm disconnected. It will just give you warnings on the dash that your cameras and radars aren't working.

For me I removed the bolt that's directly in front of you that's holding The support structure for the fuse box etc. once that gave me a little bit more room it was easier to go in that way with the new connector rather than trying to snake it around and behind where the original connector comes out of.

That looks like one of those “this is why women live longer than men” memes. I like the ingenuity, I’ve done something similar on faucet repairs crawling under the sink.

Oh, come on guys, where's your sense of adventure ....
Thank you for posting this. I know you are off-roading, but in Southeast Ohio this is actually much closer to what many of the roads look like compared to the nicely paved and well-painted roads shown in the other unmapped examples. This really sells it for me.

I hit it almost just as it arrived. I spent the first 20 minutes gathering tools. It took about 1/2 hour to get the plug out of the AXM and get it forward. It was like 1 minute to get it unplugged but the rest of the time to get it forward so I could attach the harness. The next half hour was spent trying to plug the other end of the harness in the AXM. If my hands were any bigger it would have been impossible. Finishing the rest of the install wasn't too bad, still it took another hour or so. I tried to install sunnypilot but apparently I dint know the proper URL. After typing various things on that tiny tiny keyboard with my meat hooks only to fail, I installed the default Openpilot and went for a calibration run and test drive. From start to finish -- install, configuration, test drive, and putting things all back together it was about 4 hours.

You can always refer HERE for the recommended SP branches. For RIGHT NOW however, if you have the Longitudinal Adapter, there is a Rivian bug we've all been working out and it's recommended to install the dev.sunnypilot.ai branch as it has the fix they've been working on. If you don't have Long, then you can go with any version listed there.

Glad to hear you got the install though !

This post failed a day or two ago. I just passed the"post" button again when I found it in my browser unposted. I do have the staging.Sunnypilot.ai installed. I also figured out I needed it linked to a sunnypilot account where I configure it. It still doesn't do curves well -- maybe there's a setting I still need to tweak. I thought there was some beta setting to stop at stop lights but I haven't found it. I can definitely see me enjoying what I currently have on a typical drive to San Diego and back.

So, turning ability for Rivian is highly dependent on the tires we've found. We currently use torque steering, so the ability to turn is limited by the lane keep assist torque controller. The stock Pirellis are the worst of the bunch for turning. Pretty much the harder the tire the better, but even then some soft winter tires do better than the Pirelli's. @gerrylum has a list here with their respective torque values if you care to look.

I'm running Nokian One HTs (22") Based on the data i shared I was told i was at 2.2-2.3 m/s2 on my R1S

Do you need more data to help expand that list ?
