Also a Plaid, and those seem downright cheap now, in many cases.

Also OP, prepare for the rage from the loyalists and Tesla haters once they finish eating their crayons.

Why is it surprising to people that cars at this price point depreciate like a rock thrown in a pond? It is this way for anything expensive. Cars are not investments.

A wiser man once said If you predict the residual on the lease is too high lease it...if you think they set the lease residual too low don't lease...terms of the lease matter

Buy a GX or LX if you want resale value and long term reliability. You should not expect good resale value from a startup.

Not sure if Dave Ramsey is wise, but I’m 100% certain he never said that LMAO

I bought my 2017 Model X 100D new for $132k and sold it for $24k 6 years later. My 2022 Model X was $122k and is currently worth $45k. That’s $185k in depreciation over 9 years.

The original owner of my 2024 R1S paid $81k (voucher) brand new and sold it for me for $72k last year. Just got a trade in offer from Rivian for $78k. Even ignoring the voucher price, MSRP was $94k. Still much better than my Teslas.

LOL, see the original post
Don’t worry, I did. It speaks to your current trade offer (with very little detail provided) and gives NO details to qualify your claim of how it relates to any other trade offers or depreciation (including no actual mention of a Tesla offer or depreciation despite the title of the post)

OK, trying to be helpful to the community so I provided the info I have - 2025 R1S Dual Large (price paid shown) with Performance upgrade post-purchase and I showed the mileage at time of the trade-in quote a few days ago. What else are you looking for?

If you want a Tesla comparable I paid $102K all in for my CT AWD in June 2024 and received a Tesla trade-in of $73,700 ten days ago (up from $65,400 a few months ago). So under $30K of depreciation with triple the mileage and double the age. Does that help you?

It’s definitely more helpful information that I’d argue should have been in your original post if that was your intent! I’d also take dealer trade offers with a grain of salt…do some market research for the best offers to be sure. I don’t believe Rivian is going to give you the best offer.

Rivian is not really in the business of selling used cars. The offer shows that.
You will likely get a much better offer elsewhere.

The Tesla Model X is the most comparable to a R1S.

Looks to be similar to where you are at. The 2025 is too new for KBB, but is probably worse.
The market right now sucks. The hangover from covid, tariffs, EV saturation and general uncertainty.
When I was younger, I literally shopped for the highest depreciation luxury vehicle I could find.
