No one has mentioned any tariffs at this point. I believe the value is low enough that it doesn't apply. There's an $800 rule except for China and Hong Kong. The comma itself ships from the US.
Good to know the Comma is coming from the US, but I was actually asking about Lucas' harness, I might support him but if there are potentially tariffs on it, it gets to be pretty pricey.

That's what I was referring to originally. Just added the comma in there as an also. I should have been a little clearer. I assumed you were talking about the harness.

Good question though.

FWIW - it was really game changing going to a more competent ADAS system for me. I predominately drive my Silverado around now, and it really points out just how middling the Rivian Driver+ system is. From everything I've seen, this is way better too.

Way more miles with way less babysitting and stress.

Does Lukas have a specific build (Sunny Pilot?) that enables the longitudinal control?

Sunnypilot has the longitudinal control using Lukas's harness in it now, so that's the build to run -

I'm surprised no comments or questions here yet. I have over 9100 miles of assisted driving and can answer questions. I may not have all the answers, but @gerrylum is listening here as well. I'm sure between the two of us we can fill you in. Gerry also has a bunch of great YouTube content. Very worth while going to check it out and subscribe to stay informed !

This is my first Comma post—as an outsider looking in.

I really want to take the leap, but I just wish it felt more Rivian-easy for non-tech folks (no offense). I've followed Comma for a while and love what the community has built. As a Rivian owner with a tech/science background, I could get it running—but what I want is a clean, plug-and-play solution, not a deep dive into settings and jargon.

For many Gen 1 Rivian owners, the setup looks overwhelming. So many options, add-ons, and variables—it starts to feel like a full-time project. I truly appreciate the community’s passion, but it can be intimidating.

If someone near San Diego wants to help with an install, I’ll gladly cover hardware and treat you to my favorite fish spot (we're Gen 2 San Diegans) or jack puck kit and an XL puck. I’ll document the whole process to help others—and yes, I’m definitely down for those sound packs add-on nomenclature (Fishy Fry, Limp Bizkit, whatever it’s called 😄) things.

p.s. How much is this all going to cost me including the Limp Bizkit add on's?

When it comes to the install, some have used local audio installation shops that are familiar with EV's. There are some Rivian comma users in LA that I know of. I'll reach out and see if they are willing. The hardest part is plugging the harness in due to space, but other than that, 15min is about all it takes. That said, any audio shop shouldn't charge more than an hour labor.

As for the software, there's only a few true options that work on the Rivian currently. Within that are driving models, and there's a list to choose from from working the comma control.

As with any open source tech, user manuals and documentation really aren't a thing. If you look back in the comments, I posted a link to a tips and tricks document. The guys are doing a great job keeping that updated as we go.

Sorry I'm already confused....whats the pro and cons of the $99, 225eur, and 349eur harness?

The description on the page is not much help

"
  • If you select the comma.ai harness variant, the necessary second-connector adapter is bundled with your upgrade.
  • If you choose the loetkolben harness variant, no extra adapter is needed—the harness already provides the connector.
It’s crucial to pick the correct harness variant!

"
I assume the comma.ai variant is the $99 one, and loetkolben variant is 225 eur one?
so I need either combination of 99+349, or 225+349?

Comma Harness $99 + Loetkolben Long for comma harness 349eu = $448 total

or

Loetkolben Harness €225 + Loetkolben Long for Loetkolben Harness €199 (€299 minus €100 discount) = €424 total

It really is much simpler than all the videos and discord commentary make it seem. The hardest part is getting into the footwell and connecting the harness. Even then it's not TECHNICALLY difficult - it's PHYSICALLY difficult.

After that, it's just a matter of pressing a few buttons to get everything started, especially if you want to start with "vanilla" Openpilot.

Been on the fence for a while now and finally pulled the trigger. Ordered the Loetkolben Harness and Loetkolben Long for Loetkolben Harness. Can't wait to try it out!
That's awesome! Keep in mind that Lukas has removed the power connection on his harness so an external power source will be required either with an OBD-II Comma Power connection or his fuse tap.
