I think the positioning is that the G2 TM is ballpark parallel to G1 QM and G2 QM is new halo vehicle. Not having driven one - my only criticism of the gen2 quad is that they changed the accent color to blue. Should have kept it yellow to continue to signal yellow as the quad color. Make the Tri the blue one.
That's what they said but that just does not make any sense to me from a long term brand building perspective.I think the positioning is that the G2 TM is ballpark parallel to G1 QM and G2 QM is new halo vehicle.
I agree...I would have preferred keeping all accents yellow and then a simple DM, TM, QM badge or something along those lines...That's what they said but that just does not make any sense to me from a long term brand building perspective.
Same. Not trading up. You can have my Forest Edge interior when you pry it from my cold, dead hands. ?
I think you are right on point. At least Tesla went out with the Plaid. I don't think this is as much of a "landmark/halo", cherry on the top, as the Plaid was for Tesla. The extra power is just going to upset the chassis balance even more on the R1S as they likely didn't dial it in as well either. Not much to get excited about here over my G1, especially considering how much more expensive this one is. I don't think we should hold our breath for significant further improvements in the R1 platform. I know everyone's going to be disappointed by that but it just doesn't make sense for Rivian to put their limited and dwindling resources into a niche product that will never get them to profitability. Have a look at how little Tesla has invested into the S and X over the years compared to the 3 and Y if you want a peak at the future. This is probably as good as it's going to get from Rivian for a very long time.
It has the 22" super sport wheels:The overall tire diameter is?
Thanks. Makes sense for the range differences between g1 and g2 in my mind. Would love to see range and acceleration on 33" tires on 20" wheels for this quad max.It has the 22" super sport wheels:
275/50/R22 (in the front).
I think the rears are 305/45/R22s?
Unless they really screwed up the Gen2’s. My Gen 1 R1T is loaded all the time and is by far the best truck ride I’ve ever had and my EV hater buddies even agree. Now the R1S can definitely be nitpicked for the ride.$111k for poor ride quality? Nah...
I have no idea what they’re talking about, I have a Gen2 Dual and the ride is unbelievable for a truck. I have towed both my boats and loaded up the bed with little impact on drive quality. I do keep it in Soft ride mode, not sure why they had firm on and then complained about it…Unless they really screwed up the Gen2’s. Now I see and remember they have summer type rubber on 22’s. Yes the 22’s definitely don’t ride as nice as 21’s or 20’s. I have all 3 sets for both of ours.
Given the power, the front-to-rear weight transfer could upset the chassis balance more, even with the long wheelbase. This was something I hated about the Gen1 quad motor R1S. Now throw more power at it, even on the T, and more likely to upset the chassis.I have no idea what they’re talking about, I have a Gen2 Dual and the ride is unbelievable for a truck. 50k problem free miles here (did have the 12v battery swapped out, but wasn't ever stranded). Still have a couple of the OG tires on too. While I do have some complaints, it's as close to a perfect vehicle as I've ever had.To me, this just reinforces what an absolute steal the early adopters got on the OG quads. I really believe they will be sought after for those in the know.. Especially for us who locked down the Forest Edge interior. Large battery size, all of the options, and a sticker close to $40k cheaper. I’ll stick with what I have.
I think you’re right, only reason I went for a Gen2 is because I live in a rural area and really wanted the high res cameras and adaptive headlights, otherwise I would have definitely gone down to Atlanta to pickup a demo R1T.To me, this just reinforces what an absolute steal the early adopters got on the OG quads.
