To me, this just reinforces what an absolute steal the early adopters got on the OG quads. I really believe they will be sought after for those in the know.. Especially for us who locked down the Forest Edge interior. Large battery size, all of the options, and a sticker close to $40k cheaper. I’ll stick with what I have.
See you at the 2042 Launch Edition reunion!

Definitely not going to see 360 with their stupid tug-of-war with the Cyberturd, and digging holes in the dirt.
Hey - don't besmirch turds by comparing them to the CyberYuck™ - turds might smell bad but they are actually good for nature and they saved Matt Damon's life on Mars!

Other then speed... I hoped G² Quad would've had something special... Racing seats or something (anything) to set it apart.

When I look at the color identifiers, I just attribute them to speed. Yellow is fast... But Blue is faster. Black is slow. Not how many motors.

But 111k, I'm surprised. I feel like that price will be higher.

6k for G² Quad above my Tri... I would've gotten a quad and put 21's on it.

During my tri pickup today, the delivery guide said (or suggested) the quad’s paint and interior decor would be add-ons (like the tri), and that the staggered racing wheels and tires would also be an option.

That makes a lot more sense, and suggests the quad is likely a “true” $10k upgrade over an identical tri. Guess we’ll see soon.

I love the blue accents, love the wheels, love the interior, but I still love my OG quad. It’s been flawless minus the PTC fix. My plan is to keep it until that changes drastically.

Unless they really screwed up the Gen2’s. My Gen 1 R1T is loaded all the time and is by far the best truck ride I’ve ever had and my EV hater buddies even agree. Now the R1S can definitely be nitpicked for the ride.

Now I see and remember they have summer type rubber on 22’s. Yes the 22’s definitely don’t ride as nice as 21’s or 20’s. I have all 3 sets for both of ours.
You haven’t driven a Raptor variant then. Rivian is jarring compared to those. For the price we are paying for these trucks they should be top of class and they’re not.

Upgrading from my Gen1, I would be looking for a much better suspension setup as this is the main flaw with the Gen1 imho. That and the super laggy Infotainment.. :/

My hope would be that a Gen3 Quad R1TX or sth like that comes out and is a bit more special that the Gen2 Quad

It looks like some have retrofitted the new G2 dampeners on the G1 R1S and addressed the suspension issue. My G1 R1T has been awesome with respect to ride and far better than the G1 R1S and still feels better than the G2 R1S. Glad I don't need an SUV.

I like the idea of an R1TX or maybe R1TS. I would like a G3 R1T with better charging speeds, quad motor (more power is better), and absolutely make it more special. The new Ascend interior doesn't do anything for me and I like the stock one better TBH. Please, no staggered wheels. Almost no benefit with an AWD vehicle. Give me a mode with selectable torque bias. I love that feature in my Plaid and while at it, locking differentials could be a nice option for even more serious off road usage.

You pretty much summed up my feelings too. I actually hope I don't need my dampers replaced at any point as I fear they will update and there have been reports they are softer in general and I feel my G1 QM is perfect in the current damping, softness, etc...

And I agree on the Ascend interior...I actually think it was a cost cutting exercise with the simpler seat perforation vs the cloth strip up center. I love the standard seats now and what was the seat of the G1. Sure the plaid cloth is kinda cool, but yellow flows with the theme with yellow accents on badges and brake calipers. Sure that kinda bronzed trim is different, but just that...different...and same with the extra bronze piece here and their...kinda cool but certainly not game changing.

Ascend is more different...that better. Maybe better than what they pulled out of G1 QM, but not better than G1 QM.

Edit....don't get me wrong....Ascend is awesome...but so are all the interiors that have always been available...and I do like the colors of the Ascend...but I don't feel any of it is actually game changing.

The fact remains. Will Rivian have enough funds to even begin production of the R2 in 2026?

I’ve had both the gen 1 and the new ascend interior. The ascend is leaps and bounds better in terms of styling and detail. If the gen 1 quad is an 8 the ascend is a 10. It wasn’t about cost cutting it’s about making the car feel like it belongs at the price point.

The gen 1 is great, but the interior fell a little short of the 100k plus price. Fortunately for me I paid 84 with preorder pricing. The ascend interior looks like it belongs at the price point

Can you list the specific items both in styling and then details that you feel are leaps and bounds better than than G1 interior? Just trying understand better what I am apparently missing that is 20% better in an Ascend interior over a G1 interior.
