A definite direct shot across the bow of Rivian. Rivian better up their execution game. They can't afford anymore snafus like the recent motor parts inventory issue.

The Scouts are cool looking vehicles to be sure..... but looking at the Traveler, it looks like an off road vehicle. The silhouette teaser made it look more modern. I get that they want to preserve the Scout legacy, but as an R1S owner and R2 reservation owner, I love the more modern look but also know I have a bad ass off road machine.

They said starting at $60k. That doesn't give us much or what top trim costs. I will say the offroad chops seem to beat Rivian on paper; lockers, sway bar disconnect, a spare tire on the SUV.
I know....front & rear lockers prove this will be a seriously capable machine. Sway bar disconnect is Jeep level stuff.

That should make a few here very happy as they have been clamoring for lockers forever. Sway bar disconnect... yeah, that's sweet too. Might be the off-road EV ppl have been waiting for?

Seems quite compelling to me, 5 seats makes it much less of an R1S competitor and it is quite a bit upmarket from the R2. $60k is of course optimistic and no doubt for a bare bones 270 mile range spec... in 2027 at the earliest.

An EV Blazer with style and off road chops? An R1S for single people? An EV SUV with a range extender? Lots of potential market opportunties.

With only ~15% market awareness of Rivian, no doubt these products will likely bring more attention to Rivian not less, and of course we know who is supplying the electronics...

350 miles stated, essentially R1 size battery assumed.. Somehow fit a gas generator to give another 500 on Harvester. Sounds very fairy tail.
Thanks!

I guess with the ICE, there goes the frunk cause this ain't no BMW i3 REX where you can shoehorn a 34hp European scooter engine under the rear cargo deck for a generator!

Totally different vehicle to R2, IMO. Love the buttons! So much for the guy saying "no way" buttons are so "legacy" LOL. Good for them, not everyone loves a giant iPad.

For us, it is too big and too rugged. I think R2 caters more to the casual off roader, but that's just my take.

If they can price the Harvester (range extender) versions properly, it’s going to pull a lot of people over to the EV world. That 500 miles of range is a game changer — even if mentally for most. And it’s not just that it’s battery range, but the ability to fill it up from a gas can when you’re out on a trail or campsite.

There’s a lot to like about these vehicles for off-road types or those who feel they need that solid axle and physical lockers. I’m putting in a reservation for the SUV with the range extender just because…. But 2027 is still a ways off and I’m sure we’ll see another update or two for the R1 by then. Give me an R1S Tri Max with NACS port and 800V architecture and I’ll be super happy…. Like I’d smash that buy button instantly if they offered it.
