Indeed, it's still on the RIVIAN website. I'll happily join any class-action to keep them to their word on this. Wassym can eat a 1000-lumen flashlight.

Rivian Driver+
Rivian Driver+ is standard on every vehicle we build. Delivering true hands-free driving assistance along with our full set of safety features, the system continually adds functionality through over-the-air updates. By making Driver+ standard, our goal is to make driving safer, easier and less stressful for everyone.

With the system engaged, your Rivian will automatically steer, adjust speed, and change lanes on your command. Enabled on select highways at launch, more road types will be introduced through over-the-air updates. Like all driver assistance systems available today, Driver+ requires your full attention on the road at all times and you should not use a hand-held device behind the wheel.

Driver+ is powered by two redundant compute platforms, 12 ultrasonic sensors, 10 exterior cameras, 5 radars and high precision GPS. An interior camera monitoring for driver alertness adds an extra layer of safety. Every Rivian vehicle will include our complete hardware package and all Driver+ enhancements will be provided over-the-air at no expense. More information on features and limitations will be in the Rivian operator’s guide.
hands free won't happen on Gen1 because they stopped making vehicles with in-cabin cameras and apparently the ones that were built with it don't function correctly. either way, if this is potential for a class action lawsuit, id rather not see it happen. kinda want Rivian around in 5-10 years.

Watch it again. He calls them features that they will be showing "in the next year" and never even uses the term 'potentially'.

If this were the case then why did he say that it is a feature and that they will showcase it next year? If they had no idea MobilEye wasn't capable, then why promote the features so heavily?
I rewatched it and you're correct, he's pretty definitive in the ability being demonstrated the following year, which means they would have been in beta likely at the time of the interview.

I really had hoped I could have had my truck meet me at the end of a mountain bike trail, but guess that requires my wife to willingly forego riding herself just to shuttle my ass back up a mountain.

Agreed, I'm not saying they pay out millions and retrofit 100k+ vehicles, but at least acknowledge the cancellation of this feature. We embrace the s00n culture to mean the distant future, not the bait and switch.

I wonder if when he says that we'll show the feature, if he means it in terms of future systems. He's running a forward looking company, not just talking about systems that can be added to current vehicles.

Except he says within a year, and it was posted 5 years ago...

I know I'm an old but I could really care less about autonomous driving. Wish Rivian would invest elsewhere, including allowing me to view this camera from my phone so I can spy on my dog.
I wish they could find a way to allow me to drive the vehicle like I did when I first got it, without having to sacrifice tires in the process ;)

Is it able to see into the lap area of the driver? Asking for a friend.
On your favorite website, you can search "Tesla" or "Autopilot" and get TONS of hits... but "Rivian" turns up nothing...

Come on guys...

The interior driving facing camera is necessary for the promised, but never delivered hands free driving.

It was originally promised before I even bought my Gen1. It was never delivered as a feature as they screwed up on the interior camera and it didn't work properly.
Now its promised for Gen2, but we shall see if they actually do it.

Gen1 March 2022 delivery, it's the camera. I taped over mine day 1.

Rivian R1T R1S There's an interior camera in Gen 2 R1 rear view mirror 1000000434

We're on a trip now, first time using "accessory" in tow mode, unfortunately you lose Driver+ including lane keep and it's regular cruise. I really want the brake light bar working because you can't see any lights with RTT and bikes, but I also want Driver+. Ugh, safety.

My understanding is that the folks who were responsible for those systems at the time.... didn't know what they were doing.

This x100%. The only evidence we need of that is MobilEye...
