Exactly! The hate for a vehicle is the most irrational thing I've seen for some time. It's especially notable since most of the people I encounter in real life absolutely LOVE it! It makes me think Rivian naturally attracts hateful and irrational people. I mean, why would anyone care what someone else drives?

I don't like the Hummer (and I didn't when it was first released as an ICE vehicle), but I didn't go around hating on it. I certainly hope the Rivian people on this forum are not representative of Rivian owners in the real world.
You know that’s how all car forums work right? Go on a GM forum and praise Ford or vice versa. See what happens. And have you ever been to a tesla forum? Lots f hate for other brands.

There are always a few hateful people on any forum, that much is true. I was pointing out that the Rivian Forum has an unusual amount of hate, mostly towards the most successful EV maker, Tesla, probably an order of magnitude more than any other forum I've visited. It's like concentrated Tesla hate that creeps into almost every topic.

It's probably an inferiority complex that drives a surprising number of Rivian owners to make fools of themselves. If they felt secure in themselves and their vehicle of choice, they wouldn't be driven to hate on Tesla. It's really odd.

This is true, but it doesn't make it right.

Anyway, I am a participant on multiple car forums because there isn't just one car brand I appreciate, and I happen to enjoy cars/trucks in general. That is the same reason I used to have subscriptions to multiple car magazines.

Rivian happens to have produced some very exciting products. But so has Tesla, Lucid, Ford, GM and others. I Iike learning about all of them. And while the appearance of the CT is certainly polarizing, it is definitely innovative in many ways. I hope they do sell millions of them. If they do, it will be very unusual for a vehicle in that price range. But it is a very unusual vehicle.

What exactly is right? Innovation does not make anything right - nuclear power. It is how you use it.

So just because CT had some innovation, we should all fall in love with it? It is asking schools to teach only STEM subjects to our kids. CT is butt ugly and I hope it tanks with what is rest of Elon. The only reason I turn or forced to look at it is because how grotesque it looks and the reason I smile at the person is for being so lost in this beautiful world?

But I understand the others can see differently and my cerebral cortex blocks me from judging other people /s

That is perfectly acceptable IMO. There is nothing wrong with liking multiple vehicles and participating in those forums.

For whatever reason there are 2 Cybertruck fans that frequent this forum who are not taking the diplomatic approach you described. They cannot acknowledge the looks of the CT are polarizing. They can’t even name a single thing that may be a design or functional mistake with it. To them, literally everything about it is the best that’s ever been done and any criticism of it (Even on a Rivian forum) is “misinformed”. Everything about it is better than the Rivian even though neither own a Rivian.

Neither has ever seen anything controversial said or tweeted by Elon, so they don’t understand why people wouldn’t love him as much as they do.

And tbh it’s fine if they believe all of that. But why come here and make that case? That is quite literally the definition of “trolling”. They aren’t here to participate - they are here to annoy others.

Not true at all. I love BYD. I just wish we could buy them in the USA.

Nice deflection, but I was talking about Tesla, the company that has built and sold more BEV's than any other company in the world.

The fact that you think it's BYD is simply more proof of how incorrect and misleading anti-Tesla narratives are used to cast a negative pall on Tesla and are even willing to pretend that even Chinese companies are more successful at EV's (than Tesla). BYD still manufactures combustion engines too! Your world view is distorted by your hate for Tesla.

Only on a Rivian forum would we see people in America loving a Chinese automaker above the leader in the space who is an American company. Tesla has brought us far more EV's than BYD ever has, including in the most recent year, 2023, the year before that, 2022, and the year before that, 2021. And in the current year Tesla is on track to deliver more EVs than BYD. Unless your definition of "EV" is a car with a combustion engine that has a battery.

Yes, the false narratives run deep. It's sad how people purposefully ignore reality, to protect their unsupported beliefs. There's a word for that, but I won't say it.

Lots of people on TMC hate the stupid things that Tesla has been doing the over the past few years ever since they refreshed the S/X: primarily the yoke, lack of stalks, and burying nearly every function into the screen, including the rear view mirror in the case of the Cybertruck. Tesla doesn't know or doesn't care that both their current and future customers dislike these design decisions.

They're pretty good cars otherwise. I owned a P85D and a Model S performance and thought I'd buy a 3rd or maybe a Cybertruck until I drove them. I ordered a Rivian a day after my test drive. Also, an opinion is not required to be "supported" to be valid. With that in mind, you can think the CT is the greatest thing since sliced bread and everyone is a fool for disagreeing with you, but that's still just like, your opinion, man.

Yep. That's a cult.

This is pure troll speak. As we have all seen, you consider any criticism of Telsa here as hate, and now you boost your own insecurities regarding anyone criticizing Telsa by making up some fairy tale about Rivian owners having an "inferiority complex". There's nothing odd going on here other than your delusional disorder and wild ass accusations.
