    R2 Reservations List Tracker 📋

I had a super rare (talking like 5-6 times a year) offsite thing for "work" (quotes by design :D ), and it went until 1p so I just sat in the parking lot on my phone and watched. I wasn't able to get to the reservation page until about 1:13-14p but I guess that's still pretty early. The timing...

    R2 Price, Specs, Dimensions leaked!! $47500, 0-60 3 sec, 330 miles range

Well, you are going to absolutely hate the leak that was just posted about the R3 Sedan ...

    R2 Price, Specs, Dimensions leaked!! $47500, 0-60 3 sec, 330 miles range

Yeah, and I'd guess that the typical use case for this anyway, is small towing (utility trailers, etc.) and hitch type accessories like bikes racks/cargo carriers. I doubt anyone is buying something like this to tow their 35' Pursuit center console :D

    R2 Price, Specs, Dimensions leaked!! $47500, 0-60 3 sec, 330 miles range

Hahaha, also the couple of existing owners with the weird defensiveness / CUV as a derogatory term. They make me laugh. If Matrix was here, he'd laugh too :D

    R2 Price, Specs, Dimensions leaked!! $47500, 0-60 3 sec, 330 miles range

Looking at the R1 configurator for some guidance, making a few assumptions like the base model is still AWD so the higher performance it just like the jump from the dual to dual performance in the R1. And the battery is the same type of standard to plus/large ... I'd guess that the cost for...

    R2 Price, Specs, Dimensions leaked!! $47500, 0-60 3 sec, 330 miles range

The X5 is unibody and can do 7200 lbs, just shy of 6000 with the PHEV model. X3 can do 4400 lbs. I'd be surprised if this R2 model can't get pretty close to 5K lbs :)

New Rivian R2S Teaser Image! (2/24/24)

OMG, the other day, we were out, and we were surrounded by a sea of egg-mobiles. Like 3 out of 4 of the cars around us were white eggs :D

New Rivian R2S Teaser Image! (2/24/24)

It looks like the pillars are pretty thin/narrow, which obviously I'm basing on a pretty sketchy pic of a shadow, but that could make for an incredibly open, cabin area. Same, totally digging on this. Pretty stoked for this reveal, hahaha, it's even on the calendar :D

New Rivian R2S Teaser Image! (2/24/24)

You mean the distorted image, of a squished shadow, of a screen shot from a few frames from an 18 second promo video? Agreed. I will definitely not be ordering based on that pic.

New Rivian R2S Teaser Image! (2/24/24)

I wish all manufacturers who DO make the glass roofs standard, would at least incorporate some kind of OEM sun shade (or get fancy-shmancy like the BMW iX and have an electro-chromatic-something-something roof that can change opacity).

New Rivian R2S Teaser Image! (2/24/24)

I'm kind of hoping it's actually that short. I can get two, and park them bumper to bumper in the garage, leave the other space over for a 3rd vehicle ... 🤪

GM delays EV pickup production by a year to 2025

"And by 2025, we mean 2027 ..." "And when we say 2027, what we're really saying is 2030."

My R1T barely fits in my garage ...

Yeah, an R1T won't fit on the "closed side", an R1S will, not the only consideration, but I did measure things out. Our garage door has massive wind reinforcement bars too, which take up another 6-7" or so for clearance. If we wound up with an R1T I guess we'd part it on the "open side", the...

R1S Max Pack Now Available in Configurator!

I'll say it again: while the extra range for overall, blended use / EPA based range calc may not seem like a lot, if the battery spec is 175kWh (vs. 135 for the large ...), that's a decent amount of extra juice. Just plug 40kWh into a few efficiency calculations. Like 400Wh/mile tooling...

The NACS adapter to use the supercharger network is here

I'm not confused by any of this. ;) I'm telling you that the non-MD, Tesla NACS implementation requires the auth/comm protocol, and that if a vehicle doesn't support that (i.e., the internal firmware/OS), they won't be using non-MD Tesla chargers - they'll be relegated to using the Magic Dock...

The NACS adapter to use the supercharger network is here

But that's the whole point of NACS, and having a "headless" stall. Tesla simply wants to be a proxy that gets a cut, not manage other fleets of vehicles. They also want to have a "gateway" (so to speak), not just an open system where anyone with an adapter can use it.

The NACS adapter to use the supercharger network is here

The big difference with a CCS adapter versus a magic dock stall, the former requires back end service integration between the manufacturer and Tesla. The charging control (and billing) doesn’t occur through the Tesla app - it’s all through NACS auth/comm protocols - car to stall to back end...

Just took R1S delivery! Interesting issues with end of qtr I think...

Look into a 30a "dryer outlet" setup (using an N14-30 / N10-30), that would allow for a continuous charging load of 24a @ 240 (~5.7kW) which is WAY better than a 5-15 outlet. There a mobile chargers with those sorts of plugs, or modular chargers where you can fit different plug (and power)...

    Kia EV9 Pricing Announced

The EV9 has a nice interior, a slick "comfort option" that has reclining 2nd row: I'm waiting on the specs/announcement for the GT flavor, it should have the 6xx HP setup in the EV6 GT (and up coming Ioniq 5 N).
