Hey, people gets fired and hired all the time in a business cycle . unless you were present in their executive board meeting, you do not know the inside story, or cost-benefit analysis that led to the decision. Please dont pretend to know something you can only speculate, and resort to all kinds of Juvenile name-calling. I know it sucks to get fired, just ask Rivian ex-workers. At least Tesla workers will be happy to exercise their stock options; 1057% in 5 yrs. Rivian? -92 % since the inception.
We already know that no decision matters to you as long as the stock is up, so you can stop referring to it.

We know the SC division was profitable.

We know that Tinucci was asked to be “hardcore” and make big cuts to her staff and when she refused, she and the entire department were cut.

We know that Elon justified the move by claiming it will improve uptime of the network.

We know that actual fired employees hold the opinion the SC network will fall into disrepair because now there are not enough folks left to maintain it.

We know that after doing this, Elon threatened other executives with the same end if they would not cut large numbers of staff.

We also know Elon is still pushing for his $56 billion pay package despite his company’s actual performance going down the toilet and his own public behavior driving new and old customers away from the brand in large numbers.

But the stock price is up, so……

He’s not going to notice you.
Rivian R1T R1S Entire Tesla Supercharger team fired (Update: Elon Musk says supercharger network growth will continue). ** ⚠️ ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS ** images

As for Sandy, I don't care what he thinks. He's a smart dude, but he has bad takes sometimes. I think his position was fair if "Elon downsized supercharging", however from all accounts it sounded like Elon went postal and laid everyone off.

My gut feel is quality will degrade, then he'll blame the NACS stuff. Hell, maybe the NACS standard stuff was done without his approval while he was dicking around at X and this is retribution over the charging team.

Either way, I think we're stuck with NACS moving forward, hopefully conditions at EA sites improve. If they were smart they would see this as a major opportunity to win their customers back.

I guess Musk's solution for solving the innovator's dilemma is to fire all of the innovators.

every company has to reset, reprioritize, reallocate and realign . Elon has built the most successful EV company in the world. He has built the most successful charging network in the world. He has built the most successful reusable rocket company in the world. In fact Space X ‘s dominance in the industry is stunning. He has built the most successful satellite based internet company in the world. He is putting computer chips into ALS patients, giving hopes to many ( I am a physician).
Sandy is spot on; Elon’s vision has made the world a better place, and will continue to do so.

I think we will see the fruits of autonomous driving and Robotaxi in a few years, and some will be laughing his way to the bank.

Did anyone talk about the federal funding/grants/subsidies/handouts (whatever it is) that Tesla received to build out the Supercharging Network and opening them to third parties. Is any of that money in jeopardy or can it be rediverted to a company that will steward EV charging with NACS?

Honestly, curious. Anyone that has a better grasp on this want to chime in?

I am curious if they are going to move forward with the NEVI funding they already got (from Colorado and a few other states). I would image that any future awards are going to other companies since no one can get a hold of anyone working on Superchargers.

Are you saying that willfully torpedoing the greatest competitive advantage in this history of the automotive industry is actually a genius 9th dimensional corporate chess power play and not just a continuance of easily observable increasingly erratic behavior from a known drug user and spiraling conspiracy theorist?
Extra credit for “9th dimensional corporate chess power play.” LOL

Since I’m only in this dimension and not in the board room I truly have no clue what the play is. I’m not coming to Elon’s defense here, nor foaming at the mouth with the ad hominem attacks.

But, I am thoroughly entertained by both the comments here, and Mr. Musk’s behavior. Do tell me more!

My past posts, whether made in jest or not, clearly put me in the "hater" camp, but I think that there's room for some moderation of, if not the past success you outline in your post, at least the shine job being made of this action and the discussion of his "vision". Clearly he has done (or more accurately, led others in doing, which is not a diminishment, IMO) amazing things with some of the companies he's led. However, the story coming out about how this latest move happened does not indicate that this was a concerted effort on the part of the company to "reset, reprioritize, reallocate, and realign". If it's to be believed that this was a reaction to pushback from a subordinate, then so be it and we will see what comes out of it, but characterizing it as something else undermines credibility.

My, and I think many peoples' concern is when too much power is invested in too few hands and how that can make us all impacted by their whims as they are increasingly distanced from the reality that the rest of the world has to live in. This is an example of that and many of the posts here touch on this concern. It's all fun and games and "omg, he's so amazing" until he goes full Howard Hughes. His "vision" may not be the utopia you might think it is, and sometimes we don't find that out until it's too late. Some of us see doom and gloom, some see a messiah... and some of us just want to urge caution.

Anyway, best of luck to Elmo in getting the TSLA board and shareholders to approve his demands of another $55 billion paycheck. I doubt the rampage firing salary savings will cover that, but then again the guy sold non-fuctional FSD upgrades to the cult for years.

In a way though - his temper tantrum could be a good thing for the industry in the very long term. Bad for TSLA, though, obviously.

Similar to how him buying and burning twitter to the ground has resulted in a boom of choice among social media choices. There would be no Threads, Blue Sky, or a booming Mastodon if not for the Twitter death spiral.

Let's hope he fires the Starlink and large swaths of SpaceX next. Its a major failure of our government to lazily allow so much DoD and NASA reliance on such an unreliable individual.

What if Tesla simply hires a new SC head and team? Likely many of the staff are rehired, managment replaced and the show goes on. I’ve been through this in my business career, new managers do as they are told, and the other department heads take notice and live in fear of meeting the same fate. It’s a brutal profit over everything play, but that’s the way EM is playing it.

Yeah, that's totally plausible and probably one of the most benign outcomes... and it seems that's what was intended with this action. I just don't think that this is the harbinger of doom for all EVs, or evidence of how he's some amazing guy with a super vision.

I'm just glad I don't work there.
