Well now Rivian has to remove that stupid 110 mph limit. This can't be allowed to happen.

Or come with that 1000 hp Enduro quad motor?

I'd probably never use it, but I do wish they would allow for a "secret" uncapped/track mode that would remove the limiter. Put warnings on it, disclaimers, whatever. Limit it to 0.5 miles of travel, fine. I promise I wouldn't use it on public roads. ?

They could link it to the nav to ensure it couldn't be used on public roads.

I remember reading that it’s not an arbitrary limit, but a limit of the max RPM on the electric motors.

At least for the bosch quad motors, not sure if this is different for the in-house motors.

That would be more believable if people on this forum hadn't hit 130+ in pre-production units that used the same Bosch motors.

Methinks the latest version of the Nissan GT-R did that- locking some driving modes per location - and really pissed off the community.

That and networking everything such that only the dealer could replace components. Not sure how that would work in practice but I’m sure it was a dealbreaker for a bunch

Originally it was meant to be soft limited to 125 mph/200 kph. The only reasoning I've seen to support the current limit is the oem tire ratings.

While I would never push the truck to it's governed limit, I've "heard" it's quite composed at speed.... ?

Anything over that speed would probably damage the front hood without a redesign of some sort. I hitted that speed limit a few times and the hood was fluttering so bad that I had to immediately backoff, this applies to my R1T and R1S

I have hit 105+ a few times and I didn’t really notice that, but I’m sure mine was doing the same thing. I was probably more focused on my life passing before my eyes :CWL:

It's tire limited, not motor limited. The truck is still pulling like a train up to the limiter.

What we need is for tire manufacturers to make one with a higher speed rating, good grip at speed, low rolling resistance, 3PM rated, and ability to carry the weight. :)

Small ask right?

Don't worry R1X is coming back to beat CyberBeast! Looking at the two trucks the Rivian looks like it could beat the Cybertruck in a race to me, I think the real reason the CyberBeast is faster is that it's lighter and has more hp. And the other thing is Tesla focused more on making the CyberBeast quicker and faster. If Rivian did the same thing, I'm sure they could make the R1T beat the Cybertruck.
