  1. Out of Spec seemingly confirms R1 refresh in about a month

I went to a Tesla center (it's in my town) that had a demo unit to see just to check it out, then saw two at a car show, and lastly a friend got one and gave me a ride.
  2. Out of Spec seemingly confirms R1 refresh in about a month

So...you want a better built truck and are looking at a Tesla??? The few cybertrucks I've seen and been in person all have horribly misaligned doors, hoods, panels, etc and the interiors are the creaky/squeaky standard issue Tesla ones that look like they belong in a Corolla. The interior in...
  3. What are the legal and financial issues involved with using non-approved adapter and it causes damage?

The difference here is that USB-C is an accepted standard that you can meet. There's no standard at this point for NACS to CCS adapters.
  4. “Google-backed EV charging startup Gravity opens fastest public chargers in the US”

The analogy I use is as follows: Imagine you're filling up a cup of water but if it overflows, it explodes in your hand. You'll turn the faucet on wide open while the cup is fairly empty but have to slow it down as it fills up to make sure it doesn't overflow and explode.
  5. What are the legal and financial issues involved with using non-approved adapter and it causes damage?

I'm not going to fuck around and find out what the legal implications are. Not worth the headache and worry for me. Happy to wait for the real thing just like I did with the truck. Other people have vastly different risk acceptance levels than I do though so go nuts.
  6. Tesla Supercharging (NACS Charging) Now Available in Rivian App! Step By Step Instructions

I have no desire to FAaFO with a third party adapter and potentially bricking my truck with no warranty recourse unless the seller of the adapter is going to warrant that instead. Kudos to those who want to guinea pig this one. I'm not sure what the point of going through a big reveal in the...
  7. Ocean Coast Steering Wheel

Because it still costs money to design, make, inspect, inventory, and manage different parts. I agree that the OC airbag doesn't look great and it would look better with the black. Same for the headliner and upper trim pieces. Just the white seats would look way better and I probably would...
  8. RAN Rivian Charging Stations Locations Map via Google Maps

I think this is getting more and more common, even at the resorts up there.
  9. RAN Rivian Charging Stations Locations Map via Google Maps

Many of the state parks up there have L2 chargers you can plug into for free while you're out and about. I've yet to have one broken and I've also yet to not find an open one up there. Last time I went all 3 chargers had Rivians (mine was one of them) plugged in lol.
  10. If you could pull the trigger on an R3 / R3X today….

0.) Yes, I'd buy one (R3X) tomorrow given the specs are decent 1.) Either the R1T or my Shelby Mustang. Swap R1T for R3X and swap Mustang for Gladiator PHEV 2.) I'm always plotting so who knows what will happen. I tend to swap out "fun" cars every 3 years, Mustang is on year 2 right now.
  11. Letter to Rivian: Please Open R3/R3X Reservations

I'll put down a deposit for a R3X right now if given the opportunity. I have no reason to reserve a R2, my R1T is just fine.
  12. RAN Rivian Charging Stations Locations Map via Google Maps

Yes, I think getting chargers in those areas (and Brainerd) would be great and those are all tourist areas that may be well served by at least a few chargers. Lol depends on where in northern MN. My inlaws are from NW MN and I can assure you there's no reason to go there. :)
  13. RAN Rivian Charging Stations Locations Map via Google Maps

To be fair, no one does and for good reason. There's not a whole lot of demand there nor is there a real reason to even go to most of northern MN. The parts that are worthwhile to go to (north shore area) there are charging options all over.
  14. RAN Rivian Charging Stations Locations Map via Google Maps

Calmly waiting for Rivian to start putting chargers in MN and WI...not sure what the overwhelming appeal for MI was all about but would be cool to see some love here too.
  15. Ford NACS Adapter Released + Access to Tesla Superchargers Now Available

It's not expensive at all if you're on a road trip. The discount for MagicDock is $0.10/kWh and the $13 fee would pay for itself after one full 130kWh charge which is ~300 miles of driving.
  16. Ford NACS Adapter Released + Access to Tesla Superchargers Now Available

I saw that too. Makes sense that Brainerd isn't active (it's a V2) but the one in Little Falls should be a V3... Also Duluth and Two Harbors aren't on the list either.
  17. Rivian Patents the "Ornamental Design for a Duffel Bag"

Not true. A patent is only as strong as the holder's ability and resources to defend it even within the USA. The government won't do it for you. There are international (EU, Japan, South America, etc) patents that can be filed as well.
  18. Rivian Patents the "Ornamental Design for a Duffel Bag"

When it comes to patents, the introduction and pictures are largely unimportant. What is important are the claims that are listed. If this is a design patent then it's easy to skirt around it. Utility patents are a lot more valuable. What's the patent number? I can look through it. Not a...
  19. What's your R2 predictions?

It doesn't have 800V/48V yet but you can bet it's coming soon, maybe in the next refresh which is why we haven't seen the refreshed Y yet. The Y definitely has a standard glass roof.
  20. What's your R2 predictions?

My prediction? It has to match the Model Y at the very least. - 800V main battery divided into two 400V sections - 48V architecture for non drive devices, this will flow into the the next gen R1 - Glass roof (Model Y has one) - Charge port in back driver side fender - Good size frunk - No air...
