I get your feelings...this does suck and the short notice wasn't at all helpful.

Unfortunately we are at the end of the quarter. Rivian does need to do better with communication. I would have been helpful to have at least 48 hours heads up that they wouldn't be able to make the delivery. Then again, if you got a vehicle that had all kind of issues and wasn't clean it would be disappointing as well.

It will be well worth your wait I can promise you that. If it isn't then you can reject it. You definitely want them to do a proper PDI on the vehicle before you take it.

Life happens and every brand has stories like yours. Just make it through delivery and enjoy the vehicle.

Had Tesla cancel while I was on the way to pick up. Said I was almost there and would keep heading that direction since I had nothing better to do. They call back 15mins later and said we are a go for delivery. No reason to get the proverbial panties in a bunch.

Back in 2022 a lot of us went through agony as our trucks were delivered to service center and we could schedule our own pickup appts only to find out that they would be canceled hours later so the service center could do their necessary quality control. Sometimes that resulted in even longer delays as minor issues were corrected before delivery.

All that said, sometimes it's better to wait a few extra days to get your delivered in the best condition.

Can be frustrating, but it will be worth it when you pick it up.

Also, I recall one of your posts used to say something about your vehicle being shipped from a different city on the previous day. So basically you knew you were cutting it close and relying on the transfer of the vehicle to your local service center to go off without a hitch in the 1 day allocated. That is a gamble in pretty much all cases, even when you're just placing an Amazon order with 1-day shipping and needing to have the item the next afternoon. It's a gamble. You thought the odds were good, but there was no guarantee.

I personally gave Rivian a bit of a cushion because I didn't want them rushing the preparation of my vehicle before I picked it up - I would rather have them do it right than do it sooner.

Bear with me a minute while I make a point.

My delivery was scheduled for 3/28. I was informed about 20 hours ahead of time that it would not happen. Good communication except for the fact that I was told today that it takes them 4 days for pre-inspection, detailing, etc If that is real, why not tell someone sooner that the delivery isn’t going to happen? With only a limited number of service centers a person may need to travel more than 4 hours or even spend the night someplace to pick up a vehicle.

I think we can all agree that Rivian needs a little work on communication. I understand they are a new company and they are doing all they can to get vehicles into customers hands, but some of the missteps are causing some long term damage.
I suspect this isn't so much about poor communications, as it is HQ scheduling the work at Service Centers to prep cars and cutting things too close. One or a few cars takes longer than expected, or maybe 1-2 people call in sick, and all of a sudden they're behind.

Actually, I think it's pretty good someone made the call to communicate with effected customers 20 hours in advance. That doesn't mean it doesn't suck if your that individual. Sorry it happened to you. But I imagine the Rivian team is doing all they can to deliver as many cars as possible before April 1.

My pickup was canceled 4hours before. scheduled for 29th at 1pm. Just trying to help you all from potentially dealing with this. For any of you that made plans, took time off work like me etc..

I would reach out to your service center to make sure your vehicle is in fact there.

I was assured by my guide last night after communicating all day for this agreement/delivery. I received an extremely late lease agreement at 9pm at night for today’s “pickup” that is not happening.

I scheduled an appointment to see a used Rivian at a car dealer, showed up and waited around for 45 minutes, only to be told that he manager drove it home for the weekend.

It was me, but at least it was more than 4 hours that the OP got. I don’t think I would have gotten that much if I had not been texting with the delivery team. My guide called after the delivery time to let me know.

i know they are busy at the end of the quarter, so I am not upset, just disappointed.

That sucks, but its certainly better than driving to pick up a vehicle only to discover its not in a state where its ready to be picked up.

When I picked up my Rivian it had bird crap on it. When I pointed it they kinda just ignored me and went "oh".

I didn't force them to clean it at the time since I figured I'd just wash when I got home to look for anything else. Aside from that I didn't see anything else wrong.

A few years early I picked up a Tesla Model 3P and I spent hours at the service center documenting everything wrong. I sat and waited while the detailer fixed what they could, and everything else was slated to be fixed later. In hindsight I should have simply rejected it.

You’ll be ok when you get your R1. At least you didn’t waste a day at a dealers showroom. Hang in there.

I’m scheduled for pickup of my R1S tomorrow morning. Got the call tonight at 6:30 that in preparation for tomorrow’s appointments, they realized my vehicle is not on lot. I appreciated the communication, but the funny part of the story is the rep told me that they tracked the vehicle and it is in transit on a train, and the train has derailed. The rep assured me that the vehicle is not damaged and will know more about timing of delivery on Monday (72hrs). I fine with the delay, and just keeping my fingers crossed that my R1S and all others on the train are safe.

I’m in San Diego, so heading west. Train heads to Orange County and then the vehicle gets transferred down to San Diego (1hr south of OC)

At times in business, like the restaurant business, people do not show up to work. Human errors, too often stupid ones too. A 2 yr. wait and then that, bad deal. Just think at least they don't deny even having your order! And they told you before you showed up to get it because your email was spelt wrong.
