I didn't see this posted about here, but maybe I missed it. From the Q4 2023 Shareholder Letter:

"In the second half of 2024, we anticipate opening up our Rivian Adventure Network to non-Rivian owners. Opening our network will enable other customers to benefit from our reliable charging solution, allow Rivian to leverage the fixed costs associated with each charging site, and allow Rivian to apply for committed government grants associated with expanding domestically manufactured fast chargers across the country."

This was an obvious and inevitable next step, but I think this is the first time we've heard concrete plans about open the network.

Previously, I think the only other solid information came from Scaringe's Recode interview where he said the network would open to Tesla as part of the Supercharger agreement.

With how well the RAN stations work I could see these being a preferred alternative to the Tesla SC network (when adapters available). I know when traveling if I can I'll make sure I stretch to get the RAN chargers.

Seems like Rivian slowed up the installs because they are going to be making RAN 1.5 stations with longer cables.

But I'm definitely wondering when we'll hear about RAN 2.0 next.

I'd assume payment terminals and whatever else would be required for NEVI funding too.

Too bad they do not allow Rivian owners to charge their non-Rivians on the RAN now. It would make for a good beta test program. Quite a few non-Tesla models have uncovered communications issues with the Magic Docks already.

I was at an EA site last weekend with my Hummer and was 4th in line behind three Rivians. When charger 4 opened up they all tried it and could not charge on that one due to errors, but then my Hummer worked fine on that station. They were all able to charge on other chargers at that site.

I've yet to ever get an opportunity to charge at a RAN station, are they still free for Rivian owners or did that already end?

they have been charging for a few months now.
Bummer, I've had my truck 1.5 years and never got a chance to use them. lol. There aren't any close to San Diego, CA area. There are some on the way to Phoenix but they weren't there when we drove there previously. We're going to Sequoia national park/Three Rivers but the only RAN is a bit out of the way.

They need to open them up to secure US Funding as part of that bill.....Same reason for Tesla to open up.

I think it is good that more charging options will be available to more people. RAN chargers are not a thing in my life. I have never even thought of using one because they don't exist in the NE. I looked at the Rivain map once and it indicated that one would be coming soon in Lebanon NH so I reached out to Rivian and asked if they had an apx. estimated in-service date and was told there are no plans to install one in Lebanon NH and that I should consult the Rivian map for upcoming chargers in NH. :)
