It might be that I've been hitting this. It's funny that all of these issues are "very rare" and yet Rivian manages to know about them, reproduce them, and fix them. I think they're just trying to save face here.

Maybe they just have excellent logging? After all, we do send a crapload of data to the mothership daily.

That's a good point; I've seen my Rivian upload 400+ MiB per day. I hope the flash storage doesn't wear out!

It refers to this I believe:
It’s has something to do with the update, not just a promo video. What would they update?

In collaboration with the winning Rivian Rebelle Rally team, improved performance in Soft Sand mode by expanding Ride Height and Ride Feel selections for increased maneuverability in sand and when cresting dunes.
Oh, something I forgot to share here about sport mode. I was aggressively passing cars in a spot that's notorious for getting "air time" if you are going to fast. Well I was going way too fast one time recently. When my truck uncompressed the suspension in sport+lowest, it hardened up the whole way down so as to not crash bottom out on the other side of the crest. I'd never felt that before, was a bit unsettling but it certainly made sense in the moment. I'd bet this behavior is probably being expanded on here for soft sand.

I asked. Gonna be great to just lock out kids in rear without Locking out wife.
Wonder if I'll be able to just lock out the wife's window controls...

Did you look at the YouTube page? It has exactly the same wording as the release notes:
"Do you ever wish Gear Guard was real? We do, and to make our dreams reality, we teamed up with Artist Foster Huntington to bring Gear Guard to life. Buckle up and take a late-night road trip with our watchful, furry friend as they keep an eye on your vehicle and your gear."

The YouTube page also links to the main Rivian site:

I think if there was an extremely common issue it would be addressed in an emergency rapid "oh shit" OTA.
(thinking 50.1)
Considering the amount of data these vehicles generate
A customer saying, "I see this issue when X happens" and them being able to see (oh this trigger is supposed to do Y, but they are not seeing that happen, let's test this more) and then boom, we get a line in a future OTA resolving it.

Doesn't seem like saving face to me, more so of how neat is it you get your complaint fixed instead of leaving it at a dealership for a month, and having them return it saying "could not replicate issue"

Ok another vampire fix so I'll be in. I actually have my work programmed as home and my home programmed as work so I can have the car lock only at "home" because my office is two floors up and my phone was constantly flashing lights on the r1. Now it doesn't flash with lock only I think but instead drains a couple percent during the work day. It actually vampire drains more battery than the 2 miles to work driving use.

I was using a shortcut on my phone. Double tap volume down to turn off BT. Double tap volume up to turn on BT. I don't need BT at work. I may go back to that anyway as the lock only function sucks so bad because I need to stand at the car like a moron tapping the unlock button in the app until I get fed up and pull a key card out of my wallet. It's really bad if you happen to walk up to the car while on a phone call because BT pairing appears even more disabled. Waiting for the update now that includes a little brass stick that you put in the door to unlock it. I'd give up all the wireless entry for zero vampire drain and a physical key so hurrah for another squashed bug.

Not a rare issue for mine this is 75% of the time for me, sometimes it doesn't precondtion at all, and it also doesnt heat the battery when it doesnt pull from the grid as well on mine. I hope that's part of this fix. I have it as a complaint on my upcoming service ticket.

I'm excited to see how the ride feel updates do, specifically the soft setting for uneven bumps. Mine sounds like trash cans banging around when im on the roads close to my house, and has also developed a two new suspension noises after the last suspension update.
