Holiday season is too busy to introduce a new vehicleCould be a tax thing for Amazon... like can't take delivery before Jan 1st...
Yes, it looks like a lot but working the numbers it is less than 3 weeks of production at max throughput. Their capacity is 65k a year, that is 1250 a week, even running at half capacity that is like a month of production. It’s great to see the production output, but something about that many waiting for delivery makes me uncomfortable as a small investor.
Amazon doesn’t take deliveries during busy holiday season. Was mentioned on last Rivian earnings callIt’s great to see the production output, but something about that many waiting for delivery makes me uncomfortable as a small investor.
Plus, fleet mgmt software subscription on each van soldAmazon buys these FOB origin, so the vehicles in that lot are considered "delivered" because Amazon has taken title to them. All these are paid for, and all these are sold at a profit.
Rivian has demonstrated the ability to produce the vans faster than Amazon needs them, which is why the announcement that the exclusivity deal was ended is such a big thing. This image just shows that Rivian has ramped its van production way up, and is well on top of production for Amazon. Amazon will be accepting 100k vans in the long run, which is a stable source of income for Rivian over the next 5 years or so - well beyond when the Georgia factory is finished and the R2 starts shipping.
2024 is looking very promising for Rivian. The RCV/commercial sector has always been a large part of the business plan, which is often overlooked by people focusing on the consumer R1 platform.
