In another thread, I've been whining about a cold weather behavior that keeps the vehicle from sleeping when the temps drop below ~45F. Over night, I'm seeing ~3-5% battery loss which is pretty a pretty significant amount of power to just keep the battery warm...

Below is a one week shot of the behavior, overlayed with the external temps as reported by NWS. You can clearly see it stop sleeping during cold temps.

No, the pinkish charging cycles are when it's plugged in. I generally charge it every few days, which shows up on the graph.

can folks who have vehicles comment on how much battery percentage they are losing overnight when not plugged in? im wondering if things have improved or not with all the various s/w updates Rivian has been making. if you wouldn't mind sharing your VIN range, that would be appreciated.

i know some folks were seeing 2-3% loss overnight, that seems like a lot.

TFL is saying a service technician told them 3-12% battery loss over a 24 hour period is normal depending on weather. if that's true, that sounds crazy.
This is not an empirical or controlled study, but I received a bunionectomy three weeks ago (right foot) and thought that it may be a good time to look at this …another three weeks with the surgical boot. These seem like some strange figures. Any suggestions as to what else I may try to reduce this? Disconnect from Wi-Fi and/or cloud?

Anybody have anything to report with .46? The graph above is cool but not labeled as to y axis so not sure what to make of it. I'm guessing the car wasn't driven at all, no gear guard or proximity wake ups or other usual things that wake it up? Take away is just a constant drain I suppose.

Still at 3% per day with the latest .46 update. Sigh.

Dual Y Axis, left is charge percent for the blue line. Right is for the grey line, showing the temperature observation from the nearest NWS weather station to the location of the vehicle.

Shipping mode used to turn everything (WiFi, BT, GG, etc..) off but after a recent update Rivian has altered that behavior and some of us are now seeing much higher vampire drain figures then previously observed in Shipping mode. I've manually disconnected my vehicle from my home WiFi, turned off BT and WiFi, GG, everything I could and am still seeing up to 2+kWh loss per day even in Shipping mode.
Going by the very quick reaction times to my fob now, my guess is that our vehicles sleep to a much less deep state (more systems stay awake), and they are also fully awake a lot more often.

Mine is worse. Much worse since updating to 42.

I lost 4 miles in the driveway just this afternoon and it’s 60+ outside.

Unacceptable. Seems to be in sleep mode far less often than I’ve ever observed.

Huh. I’m still on .38 with a R1T in the 23k region VIN and I’ve actually been quite happy about the vampire drain in comparison to my early days with my Model 3. It’s been low enough that I don’t really pay attention anymore.

Has anyone confirmed that the vampire drain is even on the low voltage side?Lots of vehicles have master switches to disconnect the battery when vehicle is not in use. If you park inside a garage, just mount it high in the frunk and leave the lid open? I was considering chasing this problem with an ohm meter in line on the batteries, but read that the Rivian can get angry at a disconnected 12v battery. Seeing as I am loosing 6 to 10 percent per day, and Rivian has not solved this problem I am almost willing to try.
The Vampire Drain is on the main 400v battery pack, but it is caused by systems powered by the 12V batts. People have shipped their Rivian's overseas where they sat in ports and in containers for weeks or longer having disconnected the 12V batts before shipping to find almost zero Vampire Drain in the main when reconnecting the 12V batts weeks later overseas.
Long and short of it... disconnect the 12V batts, kill Vampire Drain.

Someone should be making a "Wooden Spike EV Shutoff Kit" where there is a switch triggered by stabbing a wooden stake though a hole in the hood when you park and walk away.

I turned off Bluetooth access in the Rivian app and vampire drain improved substantially. Also noticed a discrepancy in the range the app tells me vs what the truck actually shows by about 1%. I use Alexa to operate Amazon Music and fob for access, but I know most use PAAK and Bluetooth for music so this would be insane for most of you I imagine. ?
