ABRP Can’t Calculate Route?

ABRP is now telling me it can’t calculate a route that I’ve asked it to calculate probably 20-30 times in the past (which it has been able to do). I now have to select a very particular charger at a midway way point to get it solve.

I thought ABRP was supposed to make Rivian better? Is Rivian making ABRP worse? How’s that for click bait?

But really, what in the world?

I can pick Cherokee, NC and ABRP is like “okay, let’s just go through Asheville and then to Cherokee”

I have been trying ABRP to plan a long upcoming trip, and I can’t find any reason to continue to bother with it. Compared to inRoute, a very capable routing app which I’ve used for many years, ABRP is incredibly limited, inaccurate and unreliable. With inRoute I can easily select my waypoints, choose routing based upon temp, elevation, precipitation, etc. assign layovers, search for EV chargers just as I would for hotels and really understand my routing, with alternatives clearly defined. I’ll give ABRP a pass.

To conclude the thread…

For reasons I can’t explain, ABRP shows a lightening bolt next to Asheville, NC any time I search for it and select it.

There is no other way for me to select Asheville, NC from a search list unless I pick the one indicating that I’ve searched for it before.

With the lightning bolt showing, ABRP will NOT calculate the route.

I have to select the Asheville waypoint. It shows I can “replace” the charger. Which must mean at some point I selected one. I have to hit Reset. Once I reset, the bolt goes away - I assume no specific charger is specified now.

And the route will calculate.

Since I can’t not select Asheville, NC without selecting the entry showing I’ve selected it before, I am stuck with this “meat bag subroutine” forever.

I have reset, deleted and reinstalled the app. The hidden metadata/data associated with Asheville seems to be locked to my account - which I was forced to setup to calculate routes.

At least 3-4 annoying hours spent figuring this out.

Pretty excited about OTA version 46 because this has been hella-annoying.

I have ran into this issue a lot lately going from VA to Highlands NC.

Just curious, is anyone submitting a ticket with ABRP for this? I had an issue where it would not route a specific trip for me, I could get it to route the first half, then the second half but not the entire route so I knew it was a possible route.

I submitted a problem report under the support page, gave them my specific setup and vehicle so they could replicate the issue, it was corrected in the next update. Not sure if the issue was code or metadata related but was pleased it was resolved.

Tried to. First report I tried just went to their general “info” email and got ignored. I didn’t expect much.

I tried to file a ticket through their website but couldn’t log in with my app credentials. No idea why.

Gave up after that.
