I think the pricing may surprise all of us. The Dual Motor Cybertruck was supposed to list for $50k back in 2019.
wasn’t it supposed to be under 40k originally? Or was that only the single motor

pressed steel upper control arm, not aluminum to cut costs

This baffles me. Even the M3 has cast upper control arms. I would have thought that with this vehicle weight they would use cast arms. Just out of curiousity I googled info about control arms. It seems most are cast or welded tubular these days, but there are a few out there that are stamped. Most notably, Chevrolet used both cast and stamped on Silverado 1500 as recently as the 201x model years.

Cybertruck will apparently have a 120kwh battery with ~300 mile range for tri-motor + AT tires
It is possible but sounds optimistic, that would be 2.5 miles per kW. My R1S I can do 2.2 on a trip stying 65-70, my Model S I can get maybe 3.2 but usually closer to 3 and it is significantly lighter and more aerodynamic.

Seems like 120 kW would be closer to 240-264 to me.

Elon miles. My MYP is rated for 300 miles. I’m lucky if I get 220 miles haha

If the leaked height specs are to be believed, (and I don't due to adaptable suspension) I could see pretty decent range since it is 6" shorter than an R1T. But hopefully Tesla releases specs and testing soon to put us out of our misery.
Can't wait to see the Top Gear review!

I can’t wait to see the first one lost to a boating accident. I hope it gets posted to Twitter first :CWL:

I can't wait to see the first one towing near infinite mass.

It won't be as white knuckle as someone driving a Rivian pulling the same trailer.
? That person is totally delusional, obviously never towed with a Rivian.
The R1S at 7700lb tow rating outdoes quite a few SUVs but a GX can tow close to that with a WDH; otherwise the usual 5K. Wheelbase is the limiting factor for the upper limit.
To tow max load I would choose the R1S with its 2' shorter wheelbase over my 07 Tundra in every category except range. Handling wise it is not even close, I can only assume the R1T to be even better.

Elon miles sound almost identical to RJ miles.

According to my trip meter, I am averaging 1.8 mi/kwh on my 303mi rated R1S which works out to 228 real world miles.

I have ave 2.1 mi/kwh on my R1T. I have 20 AT with the RUS too. Driven over 7k miles so far. 90% All purpose. 5% sport mode, 5% off-road all terrain or rock crawl.

Assuming a 128kwh usable pack, that’s about 269 miles, which is pretty much what’s quoted for my config on Rivian’s website

But sure, feel free to accuse Rivian of lying.
I am not accusing anyone of lying. The EPA sets testing parameters and everyone has no choice but to follow those guidelines. My Tesla doesn't get the advertised range. My Rivian doesn't get the advertised range. Both my Tesla and my Rivian have very similar EPA ratings, and they get very similar real-world range.

I do not think it is fair to blame anyone but the EPA for the accuracy of the tests. But if it is fair to blame Elon for Tesla's cars not living up to the EPA numbers as it seems many people on the forum believe it is, then it is equally fair to blame RJ when Rivians don't live up to their rating.

I agree that my Tesla Model S and R1S are very similar in how close they are to EPA estimates, I will add that they are both much closer when my wife drives than when I drive.

The one thing that does seem more accurate in the Rivian than the Tesla though (at least in my experience) is the guess-o-meter for arrival miles when navigating seems much closer in the Rivian than the Tesla.
