The problem with self adhesive is without 3m promoter it will fall off and it will fall off over time .

Rubber and epdm seal shrinks with time

I will not mfg or sell rubber seals for any application.

The Lexus triple door seal should be the industry standard.
Interesting you mention the 3M Promoter" as I had never heard of it prior to seeing/using it in a Wind Noise Reduction Kit I purchased for my Model Y from RPMTesla.

Maybe Rivian owners could request RPMtesla put together a kit for the R1T and R1S vehicles?

When using 3m red peel and stick adhesive tape on a body panel or seal

The adhesive promotes a high bond

We do custom door seals in color based on the aircraft interior or outside color of application.

Grey is a industry standard to inform silicone spec

I hate black

I did the same to my Ford Transit Van. The two front doors were very noisy, I took 1/4" tubular foan and stuck it under the factory gasket that had a flap that could be lifted to do this. Nothing glued, nothing seen, and it took ten min.

No, this one is different from what OP does.
Both should work.
I feel the OP's way is easier.

Thanks . I think Op added the round tube with this technique.

Had my early build R1S in for a 3rd attempt at correcting the wind noise from the triangle windows. Fortunate to have a loaner R1S that was a May build and the difference was incredible. Unfortunately the 3rd attempt did nothing to improve the situation and might have made things a little bit worse. Think I'm on to the DIY path at this point.

When comparing wind noise to other modern cars , there is a difference, an ev is different from any ice cars , i drove alost all evs on the market including the new rolls royce spectre , and the most insulated one so far in my experience is the eqs Mercedes, my rivian right now is almost dead silent, i own also the new Range Rover vouge with a v8 and my rivian is quieter than that car, i commute daily 80 miles at 6 am in the morning going to work and i do alot of microsoft teams meetings on my way to work, before i use to struggle in the meetings but now i feel that i switched on noise canceling mode,
I thought that my car only had this issue but I drove 2 other r1ts and an r1s and they all have the same amount of wind noise coming from the roof windshield area , one lunch edition r1t was much worse than the other cars ,

long story short here in dubai guys are more sensitive to wind noise than other places I think due to long smooth highways and desert winds , due to that we have a bunch of business that just work on installations of cars from toyotas to bentlyes iv seen all cars get this treatment.
Hello, appreciate you sharing this information. In the past I've applied Dynomat to every panel I could access on my old 4Runner, even roof and floor. And it made a huge difference, so I understand how this must have felt for you.
With my current R1S I feel like it is quite enough for me, but I cant really compare it to anything.

If this is not too much trouble could you get a noise reading going 120 km/h (75mph, is average for US highways) so that I and others could have a frame of reference?

If you could get a dB readings would be even better. I love having quantitative data ;)

Best Regards,

out of curiosity, did you happen to try each of them individually to see which might have the biggest impact on noise or did you apply all three (doors, front windshield, roof) at once?

I just bought these silicone door seal strips for the doors. They're silicone instead of EPDM rubber, are more durable, and a bit taller to better seal the area in the doors.
Thanks for the link, I just ordered some to seal the front door in my house.

Please report back how it works for your truck. I am either one of the lucky ones with no wind noise in my R1T or I am already hard of hearing and just don't know it :D

Odd how some Rivian's are noisy and others aren't. I guess their QC isn't really that great yet? I count my blessings that mine's quite as there's nothing so frustrating as a noisy expensive vehicle where you have to experiment with noise fixes.
My noise issue is pretty localized (I think). It's the driver's window and it "flutters" to the point you can hear it from the passenger seats if you listen carefully. Rolling the window down and back up "re-seats" things and the noise goes away for a minute or two. One attempt to fix at the SC (after I did a drive with the tech, he was like "yes, that is bad") didn't fix it. It may be worse than before now, which is a bummer. I wanted to give Rivian a try first, now I sort of wish I didn't. I'm going to try DIY next. Thanks @Hamdan alqubaisi !
