Please send him a question from me:
“Will Rivian retrofit older R1s with NACS at a price if the owner wants to do the retrofit?
You’re missing some pretty critical details in your story. Rivian didn’t simply respond to your post because they read your inquiry. Your post blew up with pages of responses of people who were frustrated by the lack of communication from Rivian regarding the tonneau covers. I’m confident that seeing so many people express the same frustration was the reason behind their response. Not just because you posted a question and RJ decided to answer it.FYI - some time back, I was tired of the radio silence on the tonneaus, and took to Reddit (where they absolutely watch) to politely request an update.
The next day, we got a video of the new manual tonneau and a verbal update on the powered one, with approximate dates (s00n). I haven’t done anything like it since, but being 1 for 1 seems like a pretty useful datapoint.
So FWIW, if you have a burning question, tag them and ask - they’re pretty responsive - on the r/rivian sub. I think it’s great they’ll respond to reasonable requests with the latest info they can share.
I know at least a few of their key folks are here on the forums as well, but will not out them as to save their inboxes from certain doom.
I am hoping the same thing happens with the camp kitchen and they share some more specifics. ?You’re missing some pretty critical details in your story. I’m glad you made that post, though, and I do give credit to Rivian for paying attention and electing to respond with a progress update. We don’t see that same level of engagement with other auto manufacturers.
I would be stoked for more details, but still think it’s pretty cool that RJ took the time to write to you — on a holiday, no less! Thanks for sharing, OP.I am hoping the same thing happens with the camp kitchen and they share some more specifics. ?
My Livewire charges even slower on CCS. Really curious how this adapter stuff is going to shake out. Tesla only allowing manufacturers that signed an agreement is pretty anti-consumer, but I will not be surprised.100%

????Let me answer this question as a shareholder and let RJ spend time with his family on the weekends.
Rivian will happily take your old CCS busted up hoopty in exchange for a brand spanking new 2025 R1S with NACS ports and the new car smell.
Rivian will offer a competitive trade in for your hoopty and you might even qualify for tax savings by doing the trade in.
You can now get your own Rivian with a NACS plug starting in 2025 by trading in your CCS hoopty at your local Rivian service center.
Please check KBB and NADA for rough idea of trade in values.
Thanks for shopping with Rivian.
I think I agree. I don't see how 2024 and 2025 are going to go with most major manufacturers ( Mercedes is latest on the bandwagon) all going this way. Tesla is going to have to be on their game for this transition. Long term benefit for them (and possibly all EV owners) but short-term risk to everyone (including Tesla) navigating it.The adapter is more than adequate since NACS charging starting in 2024 is going to be a complete and total ? show.
Tesla is the only game in town right now and EVERYONE and their Chevy Bolt are all of a sudden going to be piling in to Supercharging stations with their ports in all the wrong places.
I'd bet money that a lot of folks are going to end up finding a CCS charger and avoiding the entire calamity.
A friend commutes 1.25 hrs each way to survey roads for the DOT in Iowa. He drives a Bolt that he got from his dad. He has a solar array and drives all week for zero cost. His dad is a retired farmer, now on his third ev, the Kia SUV.100%

Can you help me understand this better. I wasn't aware of this, not that I had any plans to use SC for everything. If you are using a Suoercharger every time you charge then you need to stop doing so, it’s not healthy for the battery pack.
Tell that to my daughter and son-in-law and they will politely tell you that you are wrong. When you travel with a baby and a dog, stopping to charge is a welcome break rather than an annoyance. They own a Bolt EUV. It's a decent vehicle.Bolt should be used exclusively as an around-town car.
I follow this logic as well... I had the Camp Kitchen in my original configuration and it was one of the neat differentiator features of the Rivian that got my attention. Now that I've camped several times from the Rivian, I'm not sure I'd be a buyer of the Camp Kitchen today.I’m pretty curious what the rethink entails. I had the kitchen on my order which was scrubbed when I took delivery and I was pretty bummed. After a year and a half of having my R1T, I’ve realized that with the way I camp and use the truck I don’t actually want the Gear Tunnel occupied by the kitchen. It is prime storage real estate and filling it inefficiently with the kitchen is a waste. My current camp kitchen is a couple Ridgid Pro storage boxes filled with kitchen gear including a couple induction burners and an electric kettle, and it all fits nicely in the bed under the tonneau with about a half inch to spare.
