I was tired of hearing, "I don't know," from my guide and customer service so I decided to email RJ about the camp kitchen. To my surprise, he responded on the 4th of July! Here is what he said:

Thanks Zac for your support and enthusiasm for what we are building!
Apologize for the silence on the kitchen, we will have some updates to announce later this summer. We went through a big update that will help lower the price of a Rivian kitchen. This included some substantial rethinks from what we were originally planning. Stay tuned!
Have a great 4th!
RJ
I followed up with a request for more specifics about when and what has changed, but have not heard back from him. I am hopeful that something good is still coming.

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
FYI - some time back, I was tired of the radio silence on the tonneaus, and took to Reddit (where they absolutely watch) to politely request an update.

The next day, we got a video of the new manual tonneau and a verbal update on the powered one, with approximate dates (s00n). I haven’t done anything like it since, but being 1 for 1 seems like a pretty useful datapoint.

So FWIW, if you have a burning question, tag them and ask - they’re pretty responsive - on the r/rivian sub. I think it’s great they’ll respond to reasonable requests with the latest info they can share.

I know at least a few of their key folks are here on the forums as well, but will not out them as to save their inboxes from certain doom.

Please send him a question from me:
“Will Rivian retrofit older R1s with NACS at a price if the owner wants to do the retrofit?

Why are so many people asking about a retrofit. It’s totally unnecessary. For the times you are on the road and need a supercharger using an adapter is no big deal and you will still have the ability to use EvGo, Electrify America etc…. using your existing connection. If you are using a Suoercharger every time you charge then you need to stop doing so, it’s not healthy for the battery pack.

If you go to the Rivian sub reddit, they've stated they don't currently have plans to retrofit ccs equipped vehicles with NACS. The adapter will suffice.

Personally, I think the adapter is more than adequate.

The adapter is more than adequate since NACS charging starting in 2024 is going to be a complete and total ? show.

Tesla is the only game in town right now and EVERYONE and their Chevy Bolt are all of a sudden going to be piling in to Supercharging stations with their ports in all the wrong places.

I'd bet money that a lot of folks are going to end up finding a CCS charger and avoiding the entire calamity.

100%

And it must suck owning a Bolt. You're the butt of every charging issue/joke

Because I own two EVs, travel in them a lot, and know what I want?
