Maybe we'll get lucky today, and one of the guys driving the Rivians down the road in the video we saw earlier today will go rogue, say F this NDA, and do a comprehensive review of the Rivian before he gets fired for posting it online

I'll just offer that LE reservation holders have no better visibility at this point . . . which is why we are losing our sh*t. Gideon has stopped taking our calls. (Now I'm going to try to stop posting.) Good luck!
lol, Well you at least know between June and December, and will have a guide contact you sometime between yesterday and... idk, this summer.

Monitor forums to get an idea of how many have deposits on both vehicles. Then, see if they need to make final changes and options to their product, making it more attractive, while holding the defectors to a minimum.
I don’t think there’s any world in which they’re making design changes this close to production, let alone based on forum reactions to a fairly predictable competitor launch. Suppliers, tooling, etc. are finalized at this point. Any design changes happening now won’t show up until next year at the earliest.

Supervisor: “Hey, when are you going to do something other than spend all day checking on Rivian updates? It’s like you haven’t been at work for the past two weeks. If you could get us those late TPS reports, that would be great.”
Me: “Soon... soon... very soon.”

I'm thinking most early preorder holders won't defect, but I suspect those a year out may have different thoughts. How many is the question.
I have to agree. We are really all early adopters. Choosing to purchase an electric vehicle from a new and unproven manufacturer is absolutely nuts but we embrace it. We not only desire the latest and greatest but we also want everyone to know that we own it. I guarantee when we “eventually” drive down the streets in our Rivian’s, cases of whiplash will increase significantly in the towns where we live. Passers by may not know what a Rivian is but they will immediately know it’s something different and want to chat with us which we will gladly do whether at a trailhead or coffee shop.

The problem with the F-150 Lightning, to me, is that it does not look special or unique. Maybe 5% of the general population will even know its different from all the other F-150s on the road.

I can’t wait to become a Rivian brand ambassador. I just need my guide to give me a call.

And to me, that is the advantage of the F150. I've no desire to stand out. We're all different. :)

When I'm rolling down the street I'd rather have something so good it can't be ignored... R1T! ?

No argument from me......provided we're actually close to production. I have no reason to doubt Rivian won't meet their schedule, other than it's getting very late in the month of May, to be contacted by our Guides. There is a reason. We just don't know why.

With Rivian LE pre-order holders, there aren't many options available other than exterior/interior color, wheels and a Kitchen, for now. We do need more accessory options though. Perhaps they're already in production, ready to ship. All you need do is choose a configuration they have available to ship.......I really don't think so though. I believe they're analyzing where they stand after the Ford reveal, but information should be coming shortly.

I expect to get my Rivian, soon, very, very soon.

Bear in mind that Rivian has already published more info than, say, Tesla had about the Model 3/Y before beginning deliveries. Tesla didn’t even sell winter equipment (tires, chains, all weather mats…) until well into the season.

I’m not defending it, but I think folks underestimate how much we already know and there’s a chance deliveries start without some major dump of new info (and quite possibly before test drives are widely available - I had to rent a Model 3 on Turo to try it out before buying despite living within spitting distance of three Tesla showrooms).

Thanks and I understand what you're saying. I may have misled you and others by my recent posts. My only beef is with lack of communication from the Guides and how our notification should have been worded. The way we were notified is that our Guides would be in contact with the LE preorder holders beginning in May.

To me, the last week in May to be contacted is not acceptable, though I'll accept it if it occurs. Granted they did say May, but come Monday, they will have given us 24 days of suspense. This is also not acceptable to me. They could have worded the notification differently, such as, "your Guide will be in contact beginning no later than May 31st." I would be okay with that wording, while in the entire month of May.

When this continued beyond the middle of May, each day I have ceased to be pleased with how things are progressing. I'm not giving up my spot, but making it known I'm not pleased, meant for Rivian's communication's director. All it's conveying to me, about the lack of communication (in this area only), is a lack of concern.

Perhaps they've had setbacks, or not, but we could have been notified, instead of being in suspense each and every day. They did say training wasn't completed, and they'd be in contact when finished. Could this mean after May? Maybe they thought that was good enough information, but doesn't work for me. Perhaps if I were younger and had a few years to wait, no problem-no complaints, but time is not on my side. It's easy to be impatient when you're a "Grumpy Old Man". All I can do is vent here, take whatever they dish out if I want to buy their product, and I do.....for now.

No surprise, I completely agree. Afterall, this is the sole point on which we will be relying on delivery/service, etc. Pre-delivery stealth mode is not confidence inducing. For folks who were looking for Rivian to be a "normal/stable/predictable" alternative to Tesla, this game of hide n seek and vague communications is really disappointing.
