Yes, I used the veranda aluminum fencing from Home Depot. It’s seems like the perfect material, but the sizing is all wrong. It’s just barely too thick to fit in the rails and you need 10.75 fence panels to cover the bed, because the 11th piece needs shaved down to fit. After cutting everything to size, I designed and cut some end pieces that slide in the rails. Next step is epoxy to hold the pieces together, and add some extra weather stripping along the sides and edges. Then I’ll add Velcro and webbing to finish it up. My thought is I’ll be able to use the webbing to pull the panels towards the tailgate for removal, and then use it to strap them all together for storage. After that, I’m building some parts to convert it into a table. I found a vinyl tablecloth that fits perfectly, so hopefully it won’t add too much wear and tear.

My crack at a tonneau. Pretty happy with how it’s turning out. I’d still rather have a powered cover, but I think this should work. Powder coated aluminum fence panels with hdpe slides.

This is awesome. I have no idea if the time invested would be worth it, but the final product is so polished, and professional looking, that I think you could sell these covers if you wanted to.

Thanks, I’m really happy with how it’s turned out so far. I have a couple of finishing touches left, but I’m waiting on materials. I ordered enough stuff to make 5 more, so hopefully a couple more people will be interested. I really liked the rumor about Rivian’s turning into a camp table, so I’m attempting that part as well.

I'd be interested, just depending on price. I should be in my truck in 2 weeks, and I am caught between is it worth it to do/make a cover VS just wait for the one in my order because it'll be SOON (like everything else.

I’m starting the process to make one out of 1/2” ABS sheets, very similar to the rivian manual cover. Roughly 4x 12”x48” pieces that will interlock.
48 ? need 53 inch with right?

I bought a Maverick roll up cover from Amazon and janked it together with straps, seems pretty sturdy.
