i'm hoping those who own (or have ridden in) an R1T can comment on how comfortable the backseats are for adults for trips longer than 3-4 hours and if the space generally feels cramped. were a family of four and have the R1S on order but thinking about switching to the R1T but not sure about the comfort of the backseats.

we have an SUV now with 3 rows and that third row and cargo area is nice because we can store stuff out of the way of people in the back but still be accessible without having to stop. if youve traveled with family, you know there is a lot of stuff that needs to come along with the people. plus the 2nd row of our SUV reclines, like it does in the R1S.

anyone have some thoughts on the backseat of the R1T?

Not exactly what you are looking for, but the C pillar is a bit close to the head in the back. IMO, you should stick to the S

We did a road trip (800+ miles) in our R1T with my son who is 6'2" and his girlfriend. They said they were comfortable on the trip. My guess is the R1S will be more comfortable given the access to the items in the rear cargo/seat area.

Just drove across the country with two friends in my R1T. All of us rode in the back at various points and we were all comfy. I’m 6’0”

There's no need to be concerned about being uncomfortable in the R1T's backseats. My grandma was still good when she sat in the R1T on a five-hour camping trip. retro goal

I am in a similar situation and did change to the T after the most recent delivery update and got a message from a guide within two days. The llegroom on the S and T are the same. Headroom is a little less but still good. The second row does recline for the S compared to the T. People can access items in the gear tunnel through the middle of the second row.
I tried it out with my 5’8 children and there is enough space.

It’s all relative. I wouldn’t ride in there for more than 30 minutes myself.

I’m 6’2” and do not fit in the back of the R1T comfortably at all. I would stick with the R1S.

Have you tried an S? The second row legroom is the same.

I haven’t yet. Legroom was ok in the T, not great, much worse than a midsize suv like the telluride or atlas, and worse than a model Y. The S has the sliding and reclining seat so I assume the S will be better. Headroom was the bigger problem in the T.

I spent a portion of my first mile riding in back and I thought it had plenty of leg and head room. I’m 6’1” and was wearing a baseball cap. That’s not a road trip and I daily drive a Tacoma so take that for what it’s worth.?

Yes the S has sliding seats and those in their most back position give 36.6” of legroom which is the same as the T.
I agree there should be more legroom when smaller vehicles can have 2-3” more but both S and T are equally afflicted unfortunately.

I think the legroom of the R1T backseat is highly dependent on the position of the R1T front seats... if those are moved very far back, it restricts leg room which in my opinion would be uncomfortable for a longer trip. For comparison purposes, the rear seat leg room of the R1T is very similar to our Ford Explorer.
