Yeah. Closest RAN fast charger is probably in Colorado ... I'm in Texas.
I'm in CO and they are still nowhere near me....

They should place RAN where existing charging is insufficient or missing. The central oregon ones do this but most others are within 30 miles of EA. In Aberdeen, the EA station is 3/4 mile away! Then there is Moab- starting some initial planning for a Septemeber trip and that area is screaming for a RAN.
I guess for me closest is 1350 miles and I had hopes they would extend RAN to one year from first use, since they have been less than impressive nationwide on roll out. But I was being silly...that is one owner benefit I will never see. Don't really care much...but would have been nice. I am at $.10/kwh so sort of meaningless anyway....

Even more reason they should consider giving everyone a set amount of free charging on a kWh or mileage basis. Very few of us have gotten access to any of the charging infastructure.

Same lol, its basicant the West Coast Adventure Network at the moment lol
Until there is one in Vancouver, or surrounding areas it's still only RAN.

I was about to comment to this being their intention with the RAN in the first place as well as around points of interest like Yosemite etc. Some locations seem more clustered with other networks in the area, which is great, but doesn't really help in those more remote charging deserts across the US and Canada.

Door County would be a perfect RAN location

RAN will most likely open up to the public to take advantage of federal $$$. My hope is they set it up like Mercedes is where we can reserve a charger ahead of time.

I agree. I'd love to take mine on our summer trips there, but instead take an ICE vehicle. I would take any fast charger in GB as a starting point, but destination in peninsula park would be sweet too.

Shocking that GB has no DCFC

Reserving a charger is a horrible idea. They should be first come first serve with a penalty charge for cars not moved within a few minutes of charging completed.

Why? Rivian is the company building out the charging network. I agree there should be idle charges.
From the MB news release-
The network will be open to all electric vehicle brands, but Mercedes-Benz customers will enjoy special benefits, such as the ability to reserve a charging spot.

Seems like a great way to gain additional $$ to build out the network faster and still give Rivian vehicles the priority/benefits. Of course the reservation system needs to be implemented in a way that chargers don't sit unused while others are waiting for too long or your reservation expires. This could easily be done by what color the dispenser exterior shows.

I find it funny the people complaining the stations aren't "that close" to them. They aren't supposed to be. You're supposed to use them when you are traveling. Local DC charging is useless if you can charge at home all the time. If the closest one is 100 miles away from your house, that's about ideal for the people who are towing a large trailer.

You'd have to limit reservations to no longer than say 30 minutes before your anticipated arrival, with hefty fines for being a no show (though not sure how you'd get around not having to charge). Or conversely, you reserve a time and the station locks out new sessions less than 15 minutes or so before then. I dunno.

If I'm the government, I would say reservations for only your brand vehicle are in bad faith and disqualify you for public funding. Because at some point, with enough MB EV's, an entire station could end up being reserved for the better part of an entire day and then it's literally not public anymore. Perhaps they will only allow one plug out of six to be reservable, for example. That would be fair.

Also, I wouldn't want to roll up to a station with a line of angry mobsters ready to bash my windows in because I reserved a charger and made them wait.

1350 miles? When I say close I don't mean next couple towns away. I'd need about 5 full charges to get to one. And plant is only 3 hours away. Riddle me that Batman....

I don’t think anyone is complaining about a station being a 100 miles away, more like 2k miles away. That I can see being a complaint.

Something like only 2 to 3 dispensers at a specific location can be reserved.
'Angry mobster' almost describes me the last time I encountered an ID4 filling to 100 and I had to wait 40 minutes
