get ready for the headlines about deflation!!!! (FWIW deflation is much more insidious than inflation)

I mean 80% or so of recent Tesla purchasers that got screwed could conceivably try to lemon law their way into buybacks and repurchase at the lower price

Completely fair and understandable. My wife and I don't have kids, don't do any off roading, but we do occasional road trips to the beach and also have 4 dogs. A 2 seater wouldn't work for us but literally any other vehicle segment is on the table.
I get that. There was one time that my husband and I went looking at a small Volvo wagon and ended up buying a Mazdaspeed MX-5 (Mazda Miata with performance upgrades from the factory) instead. Clearly we didn’t NEED a wagon. :)

We paid $49,990 for our 2021 Model Y Long Range before the long string of price increases started to happen.

January and February are typically slow months for new car sales. The price drops are significant enough that Tesla is now undercutting many other new EVs coming from the competition.

Can't tell if you are serious. These cuts will destroy Tesla's margins and stock.

Let's assume Tesla currently makes $20k in profit per Model 3/Y and sells 1M units per year. Based on the $13k price cut, they would need to sell 2.85M units per year to make the same margin dollars. This is absolutely horrible for a for profit business. Their EPS will absolutely be crushed.
Which means RIVN will also take a hit because “they are the same….”

Edit: Lol, k bought more.

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
How many people who need a truck or SUV are cross-shopping sedans?
“Need” - not many.
”Want” - very many.

I can say that as someone who cross-shopped an i8 and a Tundra TRD Por, I’m clearly in a weird minority. But there are plenty of people who look at “SUV” and put the R1S and MY in the same category. They are probably not on this forum, but many exist.

If you think that move was tricky... wait till you see CT pricing later this year. They full well know their competitors offerings and pricing and will 100% plan on undercutting their prices and with more features included (boat mode option with 20" propeller extra ?) at the base price.

I ordered another Model Y to cost average down from my 2022 Model Y, get radar back, and have better suspension in a car with fewer/No miles.

If $50k is where we land for a ‘23 Model Y, I’ll have to think hard about keeping the R1S at a $30k premium.
