Those alignment issue look bad to me and I’d definitely submit a ticket like you did!

What’s going on in this pic?

Is that shiny sealant or something else visible on the edge of the protruding piece? Whatever it is it doesn’t look like something which was meant to be visible.
That's the piece that's protruding along the roofline. It's essentially the strip of metal that connected the roof to the frame around the doors and windows. That's not sealant on the piece. That's just a reflection of various things in my garage. I took the pictures at night, so there're a lot of reflections, e.g., the lightbulb you see there.

Okay, thanks for explaining that and sorry for misinterpreting the pic! It still looks way out of alignment. On a positive note, the R1T folks with these issues who reported them did get them fixed as far as I know. In some cases it took a while if the SC had o order parts and/or send to a body shop for paint.

Get a hold of Kim Java. She could even that out rather quickly.

I'm not gonna lie - I had to look up Kim Java. I guess I'll let her give me advice on tail light mods...

I received my R1S on Monday - DC area. Launch Edition, Launch Green, Black Mountain, 22" dark. I finally checked the vehicle for defects tonight (I was unfortunately pressed for time on Monday) and found some significant misalignments. The hood doesn't fit quite properly, as the pictures show.

The gap between the black strip of metal that runs from front to back above the windows and between the rear liftgate and the windshield seems to be completely misaligned. The strips on both sides have that same misalignment problem. Is it me, or are those misalignments significant? I'm going to put in a ticket, of course. Any input would be appreciated.

Remember that their protocol is to just deliver vehicles asap.... SC will fix what fell through the cracks
When Volvo redesigned the XC90 in 2016, I bought one of the early vehicles that rolled off the production line. There were no misalignment issues, but when it rained hard outside, it also rained inside my Volvo. That was suboptimal. I'd rather deal with the misalignment issues. It took Volvo months to determine that they had a design defect, engineer a fix and install it in my vehicle (and many others). I'm hoping the R1S fixes won't take that long.

From my experience, many/most cars have this where the roof is lower than the edge trim piece. That's why the chrome lines still match perfectly. I can say that every Rivian I've seen is this way, so it's not a misalignment with your specific vehicle.

I agree that the height of the edge piece relative to the roofline may be fine in the front, but that same piece clearly protrudes in the back.

This is 100% true. I specifically messaged my contact at the service center when they said my vehicle had arrived and said “take your time with PDI, please, I want as few issues as possible”. They were like “oh we got a good one, it’s ready!”

That turned out to be true for the most part, but I still have trim alignment and fit issues. The most bothersome one is the trim around the triangle window panel by the side view mirror. Lots of wind noise that increases with speed.

Get a service ticket in asap. You might be okay on the east coast but west coast scs are backed up. Apparently the earliest opening they can find for me is in December.
