We can't seem to even get an invitation to the Shop. We have a very early order date (11/28/18). Folks two and three years behind us have been invited to the Shop. We have sent emails to Rivian asking why this is happening. We have not gotten any response.

that doesnt seem right but probably because you were Explore package. and looks like you also still have no tonneau cover. i believe they have yet to produce any without it so if you dont put that in you'll probably still towards the back of the line.

Thank you, I tired it yesterday, the only thing I was able to see is, delivery date is Jan 2023
Can you screen shot where you see this?

No tonneau cover. Presumably that anyone who has that selected wouldn't be interested in the expensive powered one.
Switch your config to something they can produce if you want to be able to buy a vehicle that they can produce.

Just switch your configuration Brian. Give it max 4-5 days for invite after that from everything we’ve seen on the threads. They will not reach out if you don’t.

I wish that I could believe that Rivian is doing its best. For me, CS has been stringing me along for 8 months, telling me that I'll get a delivery window soon (to help me plan).

Getting back to Brian's saga ... he reserved on Day #3. Brian invested in Rivian months before Amazon did. Yet Brian doesn't have a guide and can't get an invite to the R1 shop. Rivian could do better -- a lot better -- to get Brian (and others like him) into an R1 quickly.

I feel the pain of having to wait (though not as long as you guys). 4 years is a long time.

My only point on this thread is there's strong anecdotal evidence that the system doesn't select you for shop access if you have max pack or no tonneau / manual tonneau configured. If the goal is to get access to the shop, I'm suggesting using available information. In this case, that means switching your configuration.

I hope your order and Brian's get filled sooner than s00n.

I am a max pack holder 1/4/20 and I have never changed my configuration in my account but in June I contacted CS and said I was willing to switch to Large even though I never edited my original configuration. They immediately assigned me a guide and gave me shop access. I have not seen anything yet that I am willing to settle for but maybe try with CS. I am still holding out and hoping for the End of Summer email soon, but at least I have a guide and he is responsive to inquiries.

i think because its generally the order that you get a Guide first, then the Guide is the one that can get you access to the Shop.

and it seems like you may have been held back from getting a Guide because it was an Explore trim. and now likely the tonneau.

or

it could be that Rivian just f'd up because they've done that too.

I had an R1T Max Pack configured that I never changed on an 8/2020 preorder and got shop access in late July 2022.

@moosetags is getting overlooked and Rivian needs to make it right.

I plan to attend the Rivian Community Appreciation event in Uptown Normal tomorrow. If I can find someone knowledgeable, I'll ask about ...
1) Shop access for the earliest Explore people?
2) R1S Shop coming s00n?
3) Are new delivery estimates REALLY coming this summer?

Just catching up with this thread.

First things first, another Yellow in the San Diego shop:

Secondly, my own experience. I don't have a guide, have never had a guide, and was added to the shop seemingly out of the blue. I do have my First Ride scheduled, so I don't know if one triggered the other.

Also, my configuration does NOT include any tonneau. When they removed them from the Included list I left it off. The only option I have on my config was the field kit. 5/21 order, October-December 2022 time frame. So, what additional criteria is used?

We were just about to reconfigure our R1T to include the powered tonneau cover. We were going to make this change to get an invitation into the R1 Shop upon the recommendation of several members here on the Forums.

After reading Timo's post, we don't know if it is worth the trouble.
