Thanks for posting this. I am planning on doing this with mine too. Much cheaper than getting the black wheels from Rivian...I know they dont make the 21's in black.

No, but I don’t understand much about the complex alignment requirements of the truck. From the tone of many threads on here, it sounds tricky and somewhat prone to misalignment with manipulation but I don’t know much about vehicle alignment in general.
OK then, fair enough. So when he powder coated the wheels, he in essence just put the same ones back on but in a diff color. Not that each went back on the hub it came off of, but without a change in wheel or tire size, no alignment mods/verification required. And yes agree there have been many reports on here about issues with alignment. Matter of fact my T, Dirty_Bastard, pulled a little to the right when delivered...at least that's what I thought but has since proven to not be true.

I ditched the aero covers and had my wheels powder coated satin black. Changes the look of the truck completely. I have custom made Rivian center caps (see my other thread) that will go on after I get the truck back from being ceramic coated.

I can't speak for the OP, but my powder coat guy is $550 a set which is cheap IMO since he does all the dismounting and final reinstall/balance once he's done with pc.
Very nice. My guy charges $695. I'll be going with a more matte with slight metallic flake in it similar to this on my 2022 Acura MDX. Reasonable for my neck of the woods.

It looks great.

I know it may be a big ask, and something you are not interested in seeing but do you mind sharing a photo of the black wheel with the cover on? I am not too crazy about the factory look but I want to keep the cover on both for the range and for saving the disk from rust in the rain. If you think it may scratch or take the paint off, don't worry about it. I wouldn't want to be causing that kinda pain.

I posted this response earlier in this thread.

Sorry, no. I sacrificed my aero covers to make my center caps and then recycled what was left. I would also recommend not using the aero covers unless you want to scratch the wheel coating. I noticed that the factory paint on the wheels was scratched where the aero covers mounted. My take is over time it's a wear spot that will only get worse if you R&R the aero covers frequently. Maybe a piece of PPF where the aero covers mount would help.

Looks incredible. I'm thinking of doing the exact same thing, but in a dark gunmetal to go with Rivian Blue. Black looks great on limestone.

Wow! You're making me rethink the 22"s. Could you post a few more pics in the wild? Thank you!

For ref I just used TWraps spoke tape on my 20s. Can be seen here:
https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/dark-spokes-a-way-for-rivian-to-cut-some-cost.6590/
Total $$ cost: Like $39. But time wise - over an hour. I'd like to powder coat but can't justify at this point based on results. Color is close/close enough but you can see they don't match exactly.
That’s a great idea! I was thinking of painting them or, in a worst case scenario, powder coating, but this tape may be a good alternative considering the small portion of the 20’s that needs to be blacked out. I really like the all black wheels.

Looks great. I have been going back and forth between the 20" ATs and the 22" dark but this makes we want to get the 21" and PC them. My only concern is replacement tires would be hard to come by and would be more expensive compared to the other 2 sizes.

Looks great. Certainly better than spending a whopping $3,500 with Rivian to upgrade to one of their black wheel options. I wanted black, but just couldn't justify a $3,500 price hike for them to paint my wheels. I've had similar quotes of between $600 and $800 to powder coat a set of wheels. Rivian would sell a BUNCH more black wheels if they charged $1,000 for the option. Chevy and others generally charge around $500 to $1,000. $3,500 was just silly.
