I have a June/July R1S LE preorder…in the same bucket as everyone else as it relates to pricing and disappointment. After allowing this to marinate, I reached a conclusion: I’m sticking with it and super excited to take delivery.

by no means am I pleased that I need to strike a bigger check, but, sitting in car line picking my kid up today it seems virtually all nice SUV’s are $90+ these days. My wife’s X5 45e was $92, my Cayenne was $105, and replacing them with any similar caliber vehicle today would be the same or more. I had lulled myself into a false sense of security concerning the superlow price / tremendous value the old price offered. We have all seen chip shortages, supply chain issues and interest rate fears drive inflation so an adjustment was completely reasonable ( in my books). I still can’t wrap my mind around the “bull in a China shop” approach to PR / customer service they have but will roll the dice that they learn.

the R1S is still cheaper than the model X, cheaper than a new Range Rover hybrid, cheaper than a cayenne hybrid and cheaper than a hummer - it’s a good looking rig that offers everything my family wants ( albeit for more $ than expected ).

im with everyone else in thinking this was a total screw up, but I can’t wait to take delivery. Anyone else share a similar outlook or am I all alone?

Yup, go build a model X and you’ll feel better about yourself.

We have an R1T LE preorder with a March/April window. We're not happy about the price change but don't feel like there are good alternatives for us. So we're staying as well.

I'm not out yet, but I'm getting close. I am very disappointed. I thought that Rivian could bring me over to the EV world. Apparently, they can't.

I think this is a good assessment and the direction I'm leaning. I'm not happy about it and it's forcing me to confront the cost in a way that I haven't had to for a few years. But I also think I'd be more than $12k worth of upset if I cancelled.

I'm staying in all likelihood as well. Having soured on my Model X I'm determined to replace it this year, and looking at the alternatives there's nothing in stock and any order would likely take months longer than the R1S assuming no further delays. Anything else I buy now would be a compromise, and probably just a gap filler until something else comes to market that I'm truly excited about. While I'm not crazy about paying $14,000 more, I can shift some budget around or finance it instead of paying cash and still make it work.

I’ll ultimately wait until I’m asked to commit to the build and make the decision then. Hopefully more price hikes won’t be coming, but I think my window just pulled way up from first half 23 to sometime in 22!

I am leaning towards staying after looking at the competition. I would need a C8 Corvette, an F-250, and a Jeep to do everything this vehicle can do.

I have similar feelings and am keeping my reservation. I still can’t believe how the increase was communicated yesterday and that it applies to everyone regardless of when the deposit was first made. Rivian could have done so much better and it’s hard to understand their choice of communication strategy. I totally understand those who cancel and move on. I still want rivian to succeed because EV’s are the future and the EV world would be more fun with rivian in it. But, yesterday really dampened my enthusiasm and maybe made me realize I was putting the company on too high a pedestal, if that makes sense at all. Once my R1T comes I’m sure I’ll be excited to drive it and share my thoughts with others but at the end of the day it’s just a car and rivian is just another for profit car company.

By no means was my original post drafted with a sense of entitlement or by some tone deaf idiot - I totally sympathize with people who were reaching to get to 73 and then saw their dreams crushed by the price hikes - I’ve been there / done that - but I also suspect there are more “stay” people than this board would lead us to believe.

You guys are folding like lawn chairs 24 hours after the DP?

If I felt like this, I would certainly not tell anyone about it. Heck, at least wait until next week's earnings call and see how the monkeys dance, eh?

As I mentioned in one or two other threads, I'm keeping my reservation but definitely questioning it and considering other options.
