This is the third "2 months free" Connect+ offer that I've received. So far I've just ignored them.
Cell service where I live is spotty. Is there any point to Connect+ at all in that situation?
We didn't sign up for Connect+ because we live in an area with very unreliable cell service. Given that it was hard to see any point.
Now I sort of see one, but... really? Combining subscription-based rollout timing with Rivian juicing interest early (it turns out) via video teasers seems like...
I've mostly been impressed by the UX design decisions Rivian made in the R1T. But this one... Don't they expect people to use it to top up tires on their truck? Why make it so unnecessarily complicated for that use case?

This is brutal. I have to wonder if this is part of the reason that Foxconn backed away from investing.
We got some surprising stuff at the mailing address that Rivian's underwriter (Nationwide) used. Newsletters from my first college, multiple credit card offers, ... I suppose that it could have been DMV related but they have a different address for us.
The owl was popular with everyone who heard it. The wolf, however, set our dog off on a hunt for the source of the sound - including howling in return. I'd love to have both of them back.
And just how is that supposed to work if there's no cell service? There are data service dropouts and total dead zones all over this area (including where she was located). Cell service is even worse if we're out on an "adventure." We can't depend on being able to log back in during a trip if...
After the update to 1.5.0 (iOS) my spouse found herself logged out of the app after she walked away from the truck for a bit during a trip. She luckily had a keycard in her wallet and was able to get back in despite the phone key being disabled. She doesn't always take the wallet with her during...
We pulled into one of our favorite WA state parks this afternoon, parked, and then I looked over. What are the odds?
The owners were nearby so we had an impromptu R1T meetup. People who stopped by to admire the trucks couldn't believe that this was coincidental either.
I received it and then less than half an hour later I received one titled "Your Rivian is ready for delivery." It's being delivered on Monday. So the timing was... weird.
We have an R1T LE preorder with a March/April window. We're not happy about the price change but don't feel like there are good alternatives for us. So we're staying as well.
Agreed. It sounds like they're still searching for the funding they'll need to even start on the tooling. There's talk of tapping into a government loan program but that won't cover everything.
I saw elsewhere that Workhorse did indeed transfer their consumer reservations to Lordstown. I don't...
I'm so looking forward to showing my spouse (who has been agitating for an EV pickup) some images from the unveiling. She thought that the Workhorse pickup was pretty unappealing. This one should produce some memorable quotes.
The combination of cab forward design, sharp edges, and such a rigid...
Workhorse started taking consumer reservations ($1,000) for the W-15 back in January of 2018. At the time the estimated price that they quoted was $52,500. Now? Who knows. I didn't see any mention of a price either.
I wonder if those 6,000 preorders includes any existing consumer reservations...
These reminded me of the discussion we had with the rep standing at the driver side rear of the blue R1T in that last picture (I didn't catch her name). We didn't see any racks out at the Seattle event so we asked her about them. It turned out that's what she worked on and she was wondering...
Wow. You were busy! On these three points I hope that this all degrades gracefully in the absence of an LTE cell connection. Like, umm..., at my house or at many of the locations where I might take an EV adventure vehicle.
You'd think that this would go without saying but I have a...
Here are a couple of other pictures from the Seattle event. The first is of RJ addressing the 4-6pm crowd. I think that a few people had already left by then (although we were strongly encouraged to stay until he'd spoken) and there were some people who couldn't be torn away from the vehicles...
I noticed the glare as well. There were high intensity spots set up around all of the cars though and so I don't know how much of it was from that. I also hope we'll see good anti-glare glass there.
Speaking of reflections I wonder if one of the reasons we're seeing so many shades of blue in...
