Rivian R2R and R2S Release in 2026; R1T and R1S Second Gen Comes 2029 -- Detailed in Product Forecast Map

AutoForeCastSolutions has published its comprehensive North American vehicle product forecast map (updated November 2022). Here is their product map detailing Rivian's R1 and R2 platforms for the R1T, R2S, R2R and R2S vehicles.

R1 Platform

Current R1T (A1-T) end of production: January 2029
Next gen R1T (A1-T-1) start of production: February 2029 (ending 2037)
Current R1S (A1-C) end of production: June 2029
Next gen R1S (A1-C-2) start of production: July 2029 (ending 2037)

R2 Platform

R2R (A2-R) start of production: July 2026 (ending 2030)
R2S (R2S) start of production: January 2026 (ending 2029)
R2S (R2S-2) start of production: July 2029 (ending 2034)

Interesting that they have the R2 as being only a three year lifespan for first gen. Since it is 2026 and presumably has 800v charging etc it should last longer compared to the R1 platform which dates back to pre 2018.

Take these things with a grain of salt. This is what the Rivian section looked like back in March.

How reliable is this? With technology changes so fast, I doubt R1 platform will last that long..

Depends on how Rivian handles upgrades. Tesla still has the Model S after 10 years and it's gone through a myriad of updates/upgrades, but it's all under the same Model S name.

Anything to understand what the R2 platform is going to look like? In the header, that does not appear to be either current R1T or R1S, but i can't make out what it actually looks like it will be. Interesting that there is separation between the front and back doors. Gull wing perhaps????

I wonder if electric vehicles will ever really become classics. I would worry about long term storage of a vehicle with so much tech.

These are 100% an artist speculation and nothing that Rivian has released.

Rivian has not revealed any details for the R2 series.
