The tri won’t come down in price. This is a sign that the R1 will be positioned higher since the R2 can cover the $45-70k rangeRivian just sent emails out stating that the SR R1 models will be discontinued. Is this a sign that the Tri Motor R2 will be in the $70k price range?

You miss read I meant the Tri R2 will be priced at $70k. This is what I have been saying all along. This would validate a launch model R2 at over $60k.The tri won’t come down in price. This is a sign that the R1 will be positioned higher since the R2 can cover the $45-70k range
Apologies. Agree with your pricing except the performance dual should not be a $7.5k upcharge for essentially software - way more than the R1 does. You miss read I meant the Tri R2 will be priced at $70k. This is what I have been saying all along. This would validate a launch model R2 at over $60k.
R2 SR SM $45k
R2 L DM $55k
R2 L PDM $62,500
R2 Tri $70k
Just remember no one makes a sub 3.0 sec 0-60 EV in this space the DMP will fill the Y competitor space. Expect the Tri Motor to be $70k + for the performance.I don't think R2 will max at $70k - it's gonna be more in line with the Model Y which maxes at $57-60k. Removing the R1 Standard makes for a bigger gap between the two models so that things aren't too close.
This might also be due to a lower take rate on the Standard R1, making it no longer cost effective to manufacture.
The tri will be above $60k, even if the PDM is $55k (and that is a lower estimate than many on here) then adding a third motor and maybe some interior parts (like the ascent trim on R1) will push the price up.I don't think R2 will max at $70k - it's gonna be more in line with the Model Y which maxes at $57-60k. I think you're about right. I expect the launch Edition (L PDM) to be in that $65k range and include autonomy and connect+You miss read I meant the Tri R2 will be priced at $70k. This is what I have been saying all along. This would validate a launch model R2 at over $60k.

The range (258-270 miles) in 2026 for such an expensive EV (starting at $77K) doesn’t seem worth it either.I think it signals that the margins on SR are really bad and it was only necessary for Rivian to offer when there weren't other options below $75k.
No. It's a sign of wishful thinking. As manufacturer, you would make your flagship products cheaper to manufacture to improve profitability. You wouldn't ever lower retail price to cheapen status of your flagship product. Imagine Mercedes Benz were to offer a discount S-Class. They wouldn't.Is this a sign that the Tri Motor R2 will be in the $70k price range?
