Panel Gaps weren't an issue for car buyers before the internet came along to force-feed OCD. Sergio Scaglietti is rolling his eyes.

+ "The dark feels dungeony to me..." YMMV - I think light interiors feel like:

Coastal Cloud for me. I’m over dungeony interiors 🤣. Especially in the summer time.

I suppose these reviews can effectively cover paint quality, basic interior quality, and any fitment issues. However, I do agree that panel gaps have been blown out of proportion these days.

The basics of any decent build quality review would at least include lifting the vehicle and covering the suspension, brakes, and underbody protection, with details on design and material choices.

Keep in mind these guys are car detailers and don't have any manufacturing expertise, nor are they engineers or even seasoned car reviewers. This forum is likely more informative tbh.

You get a Japan-made Toyota or Mazda if panel gaps and paint quality are important to you. They are obsessed with this stuff.

I had a US-made Subaru some time ago, and it seemed like they didn't care about panel gaps and fitment at all. Not only were the gaps wide, but some were noticeably different in size from one side of the car to the other. I assume a lot of Japanese quality-control people committed harakiri when they saw it.

We have two Mazdas. The gaps aren't 100% better.

The plug behind the door handle is missing; they still can't figure out how to make them stay there.

This isn't even a customer delivery right? Specifically loaned as a press vehicle from R. So very likely it's been massaged QC-wise more than customer deliveries.

It is a customer delivery, he thanked the guy that was there for bringing it in for him to do the video.

I don’t understand the point of highlighting small build quality issues. What am I suppose to do with this information. Are these things that the SC can address or should address?
Some of the panel alignment stuff they might fix. Some of these you may never see as they dial in the factory or revise parts.

The most important thing to get out of it as that they are making pretty solid builds with a brand new car and assembly line. We already knew that of course reading customer reviews here.
