Our cars still look great. All of these things just remind me of undercoating sprays, pinstriping, fabric protection, wheel protection, window etching, etc. that dealerships try to scam you with.

It's a car; it's going to get minor battle scars. A few minor rock chips that I might see once a month, and ONLY when I'm washing the car, is preferable to spending thousands of dollars on a car condom.

Yeah but I'm OCD PPF is probably overkill but ceramic coating is really great and does make the paint and clear coat last way longer and makes washing much easier. Pretty cool video below on it.

I have no personal experience with PPF, but this video brought up some points that I thought were concerning. Some of the things he said were that PPF is actually more vulnerable to damage from things like bugs and bird poop, that it can experience rock chips itself, that it can yellow over time (which is much more noticeable if you only cover part of the vehicle), etc.

He said it really should be replaced every few years and that you risk damaging the paint when you remove it, with the risk increasing the longer it's been on there.

To each his own. Never seen yellowing with Xpel products. And after seeing what bird crap does to paint if not removed quickly, I'll stick with PPF getting a blemish before the actual paint being damaged. Can't take it with you, so I'm spending the money while I'm alive. lol.

The modern film (e.g., Xpel Ultimate+) does not yellow and is self healing. Small indent and scratches all disappear in the sun as you drive.

I did lots of research before getting PPF and talked to several installers. The removal can be tricky if DIY. Professionally removed. PPF is non-issue.

Cannot say good things enough about ceramic coating. I have all of my vehicles coated. Keeping vehicles clean is a snap.

Yeah you guys are convincing me to do the ceramic coat this time, seems much more practical than PPF for me. But may actually PPF the front bumper on the R2 at the same depending on the quote against my better judgement, gotta spend it somewhere I suppose . This is what happens when you have to wait months to get a car!

100% for nearly all car owners. I'm a rare example of where PPF would help because I go off road and get scratches. The color wrap I have just brushes them off.
