Just curious what the community stance is at the moment on whether they’ll pay for Autonomy+ or not

I’ll probably end up coughing up for the one time payment - but would much prefer to just pay $250 to keep auto lane change and skip the rest :)

Honestly - I’m fine with gen1 mobileye other than this feature, and was content with the gen2 mobileye feature set at launch. Perhaps I’m getting old, or perhaps it’s that I actually enjoy driving (Most of the time) - and feel that we are a very long way off being able to sleep behind the wheel, which is the step that really excites me.

I like the idea of the one time payment, because they can't suddenly raise the cost of it, and should theoretically raise the value of the vehicle. But I've heard that used Teslas don't tend to go for much more just because they have lifetime FSD. And I also haven't been keeping cars past what would be the 50mo break even point vs paying monthly.

Realistically, I'll probably not use it enough to make the cost worth it in either case.

Maybe at some point in the future if I ever upgrade to Gen 3 or Gen 4.

I said the 2500, not for the R1S as it is a G1, but for the R2. I would need to see if it stays with the vehicle if sold, if it is only licensed while I own the vehicle I may reconsider.

from https://rivian.com/autonomy :

5. Lifetime upgrade product features remain available during the lifetime of feature support for the hardware on the vehicle at delivery. Lifetime upgrades remain with the vehicle upon ownership transfer.

Would it be worth anything at Rivian trade-in with Rivian is the question I’ve got.

For my Gen2 R1S, very unlikely to pay for Automony+/UHF (whatever they want to call it). However, when my daughter is ready for a R2 or R3 in 2028, maybe.

Makes sense to get the one-time if planning on keeping car for 4.16 years.
I’d lean towards $50 monthly. If I don’t have fear of Rivian raising prices like Tesla did

I’m not so sure the math is so simple. If you keep the car for 3 years, monthly adds to $1,800. But I could absolutely see the value of the car sold being more than $700 additional because it has lifetime Autonomy+. Even after 2 years at $1200 from monthly payments, I could envision the $1300 you “overpaid” for lifetime being recouped when sold.

Of course, we won’t know until years from now what the market bears out! 🙂
