I encourage anyone watching this to just enjoy it for the entertainment value and not get into a flame war or otherwise criticize the creators. These guys are very experienced off-roaders but who seemingly don't have a ton(*) of experience with the peculiarities of the R1 platform in these conditions.

* I'm only comparing to my experience receiving professional off-road training from someone who has plenty of experience with the R1T and how it's programmed to crawl.

Would you consider doing a bit of a write-up on what you've learned? It'd be hugely helpful to know.
Honestly most of it boils down to “keep the pedal down, trust the vehicle, and steer into it”. That’s an over-simplification, but that’s what I mostly remember. The guy did a great job of trying to help us build muscle memory into our off-road manners rather than walking away with a checklist of tips.

@Bf3 @Jazzyjeff139 and the other Northeast Rivian Club folks might have a better recollection.

Okay! ...3 months later, come back to the forum with a crumpled truck... :p

That does kinda match my experience, getting up a snowy slope last winter: was stuck until I disabled stability control and planted the throttle. The truck walked right up, albeit crab-walking at a bit of an angle with four wheels spinning.

That was a nice video. I think the tires are the weakest aspect in that trail: Those street tires just aren't the right compound for the rocks.
Agreed. I probably wouldn't do this without All-Terrains. That said, I also think they over-under-inflated the tires (I'm not a professional in this capacity, but 15 psi seems like it was super low, and I'd worry about the integrity of those tires with that little support more than anything). Still super impressive!

32 psi on my 22's was borderline too little air for stuff that was much less chunky than this. 15 was definitely way too little for the 21s.

That group isn't used to the weight in EVs. For nearly any other vehicle on the road, 15ish is a safe bet for crawling.

I'm impressed that the Rivian did stuff like that on stock tires. I personally wouldn't off road my 21's or my Rivian at all as I don't want to mess it up but its cool to see other people do it to remind me how capable the truck is.
