Careful with “Alexa, open the hood…” (if you have something on the hood)

Recently I used Alexa to help with a mundane task to open the hood. In a hurry with 3 kids 5 and under we made a mad dash to the car. I jumped inside and yelled, “Alexa, open the hood.” On the hood was a giant deep dish casserole dish full of Mac and cheese. We set things on the hood to make sure we don’t forget something.

I watched the hood open and down slid the Mac and cheese— crash into the windshield. Yep dummy here destroyed the windshield with the aide of Alexa. Careful what you ask for.

I find, in that situation, that a quick burst of the washer fluid will give a nice sweet glaze to the mac & cheese.

lol other than the $2800 for the windshield it was pretty hilarious.

I quickly disabled Siri "Open Hood" and "Open Tailgate". Don't need anyone (or myself) accidentally opening those while it's in my tight garage. I also never open the charging port from the main window, it's too close to the open hood button.

Fun part about the hood. It's strong enough to lift with ice frozen to it, but as soon as it hits the top it'll fall down closed again.

How does one disable specific commands? I don't believe I saw this in the owners manual. It could come in handy.

A couple of updates ago they added ability to make Siri Shortcuts to control some things.

Fun part about the hood. It's strong enough to lift with ice frozen to it, but as soon as it hits the top it'll fall down closed again.

That's funny, I was thinking the opposite. Mine won't open at all with snow/ice on it unless I help it but then it stays up.

I thought it was Alexa? Siri would mean that Apple CarPlay is available.
