I've scoured the web and can't find this information.
I have the crossbars on order and looking to order a roof basket too. The roof basket manufacturer specified their mounting brackets fit up to 3.5" wide and 0.37-1.02" thick bars.

Can anyone tell me what the rivian bars spec out? I'd like to place the order for the roof basket while I wait but want to be sure it will work with the oem bars. Thanks!

Just go to Starbucks and measure some in the parking lot…

I jest because so far mine are for look-only too :)

Measurements (with a measuring tape, I don’t have calipers) are 3.5” wide by 1.25” thick.

From the sound of your post I'm guessing the basket bracket you're looking at reaches around the crossbar and clamps to it. I think when you get your cross bars you'll see that the intended attachment method employs the slot on the top of the bars. Much prettier and doesn't scratch up the bars. Just my $.02

Thanks for the information. The manufacture only offers one bracket style. I don't know of any roof basket/racks that mount in the slot in the bars.

Post a link to the basket you're looking at. Maybe we can come up with a work around that uses the bolts @FooF linked to.

These bolts are heavy duty and fit into the slots on the crossbars. https://www.etrailer.com/Accessorie...70jnJHj5CtLpeem9sGqSKQzEv6KcaaQ3GUeEsxEZURlyz

You can probably skip the clamp bracket and bolt directly to the crossbars.
I like that idea. Just not sure how I could use those with the design of brackets with this roof basket:

Any idea how to modify the bracket to work with these bolts in the slot?

Looks pretty easy. Current brackets have two long bolts on top metal plate that hooks onto basket tubing. Just drill a hole in the center of the metal plate big enough for the t-bolt threads and use the washer and nut that comes with the t-bolt.
With that design, would I be using the bottom portion of the mounting bracket, or only the top metal plate?
It seems to me that this would be a faster and easier mounting using one T-bolt per bracket, as opposed to the traditional two.
Any concerns on the roof basket moving/shifting side to side with the T-bolt method?

Here is the bracket itself:

You've "scoured the web" but didn't bother with a simple google search, which shows the information immediately?

Information for the cross section of the rivian bar? No, never did find that information on Google. But the friendly folks here have helped!

OK, I think this will work. You're going to need a way to cut down some M6 bolts but that's about the extent of the skills/capabilities for this idea.
Watch the installation video (1:52-2:12) for the Tyger basket you're planning on. It shows the assembly of the upper half of the stock clamp bracket. We'd only need to make up this 'half' of the clamp. Cut the two long screws (that are meant to reach the bottom half of the clamp) shorter so they just allow you to secure the two pieces of the upper half of the clamp to the Basket. This half of the clamp spreads the load of the T bolt that will fit into the slot in the crossbar and run up through the center hole of the upper half of the clamp.

You'll need to buy longer T bolts than the ones FooF linked to but just search Long Yakima T Bolts, buy ones that are long enough to reach up through the upper half of the clamp bracket and cut off extra length after testing the assembly.

This is all a maybe 1 hour job. Have fun.

This is perfect idea! Thank you so much. I might just try the T bolts that FooF linked because they are 1" and it looks like it might be around that depth.

Just another quick question how to did you figure out these are M6 bolts? Or are you guessing? I might just order shorter M6 bolts instead of trying to cut down the longer factory bolts...
