I got an idea. An awful idea. I had a wonderful, awful idea.

Anyone else considering selling their truck when they get it? Way I see it, there are loads of people with wayyy more money than me here in Austin that either got their order in far later than me… or have no order at all. They just want it, and they want it asap.
With leads times of 6 months to a year, how much do you think a tech millionaire would pay me for a brand new R1S with zero miles? Green paint, ocean coast interior just like the video where they’re snowboarding.
Thoughts?

Whoever gets closest to the actual sales price gets $100 if/when I sell it

Good point. Especially If they’re able to ramp production and decrease lead times significantly. But, if they struggle to ramp and supply remains low…. with high demand, I think these could sell for a pretty penny.

You haven't taken a look at either the new or used car market lately.

Take both general supply shortage and general high demand, add in "The hot new truck everyone loves and wants"... and I bet LEs are easily gonna flip for $10k-20k over MSRP, if not more.

Not next fall, but in March? April? Yup.

This is not a new idea or a “whacky idea”. Everyone is flipping cars right now. Inventory is low and people have money to burn. Rivians will command a premium because they will be hard to get.

Money is part of life, not the point of life. If your contribution to the supply chain is value extraction, you suck. There's no need to perpetuate shitty behavior just because "hey, it's capitalism."

Interesting take. Did you just call every used car salesman a parasite? I'm assuming he does want the car but would be willing to part with it for someone that values it $30K more than him. Not like is selling $5 bottled water after a wildfire went through. Amazon's business model is literally this getting you crap you want quickly with a markup... way bigger fish to fry than @Dubs.

Having worked with them as a wholesaler, yes. They are parasites. There's a reason I changed from middle-man to direct sales for a flat fee.
