I always hate changing rules in the middle of the game, which is what this is, but I don't hate the idea of rewarding corporate backers - stock holders, previous purchasers, etc. Rivian is prioritizing R2 delivery if you own an R1. Cruise lines give you on board credits if you own shares, etc.

Pretty good way to ensure that the buyer will only say positive things about the truck. "Livelihood depends on not understanding..." and all that.

There’s a right way to do something like this and a wrong way. This is the wrong way.

Ford has a program that gives you somewhat of a discount if you’ve owned 100 shares for at least 6 months. That’s a reasonable way to do things. Changing the rules in the middle of the process is not.

Rewarding loyal shareholders and customers who have funds to actually purchase Foundation Series CT. Easy to put down several $100s to get multiple CT’s and attempt to flip for profit or no intention to buy more than one. No different the Loyalty programs for any company, current owner/shareholder/frequent flyer get more perks.

When you start a company, you will be grateful for your early adopters and supporters. If your company is successful, you will also want to reward them by giving them special perks. It's one of the incentives for being an early adopter.

I wished Rivian had something similar for R1 (and R2 in the future) delivery.

Companies should reward long-term investors. Getting an early delivery for new products is a way.

Clearly stock price appreciation is the most significant way to reward the investors. Since Rivian doesn't pay dividends, this would be in-leu of.
